To avoid ! At any costs !
This hotel is by far the worst experience we had after one year of travel. Sadly I cannot make this comment on the booking website as the strategy of this hotel is to have the client cancel the reservations or mark them as no-show if customers are not happy in order to avoid bad comments (see most recent comments on google vs booking and the owner reactions to bad comments is a good exemple of the way he treats people in his hotel).
We were looking for a room with a window and were happy to make this reservation « with a city view ». But we ended in a bad smelling windowless room. In fact the whole floor was smelling bad. When we asked for what we paid, as it is not ok to sleep in a cagibi, the staff was super rude, saying that the boss did not run his business good and laughing at us.
We kept very calm and ended up having the boss on the phone and agreed for a reduced price for the first night and a refund for the next ones as it was too late to find another hotel at almost 10pm.
The situation was settled, we thought. But then, the guy from the staff became super agressive asking why we were still here after a late diner and started yelling at us that we weren’t welcome, he turned off the electricity of our room and called the police on us while we were waiting for the promised refund and obviously now looking for a new hotel as there were no way we will stay at a place like this.
We still don’t understand what went wrong with him and, what was his a problem, but I think there is plenty of professional ways to let us know and to deal with the situation without getting that extreme and that aggressive to us.
As suddenly as his staff lost it, the boss stoped replying our texts and calls. The police finally came up, saying sorry to us for this unexpected situation and that it was best for us to leave even before the refund was made. It was past midnight when we ended up in the street, fortunately we finally found another hotel infinitely better and with a true professional staff.
If the same situation happens to you, and you used the same booking website, do not make the cancellation yourself as the hotel will ask to, and let them do so. This way you will be able to explain the situation on the booking website and the grade will finally show the reality...
Read moreWe only stayed here one night, and at first it was great. It's close to everything and reasonably priced and the staff was nice. After midnight, everything changed. I started hearing loud banging coming from somewhere and it kept waking me up, which was annoying since we were getting up at 5 am to go to the airport the next day. Then I had just fallen back asleep when I started getting drops of water falling into my bed from the a/c unit. Soon enough there was a small puddle in the bed. We pulled the bed away from the wall and then the banging started again and it sounded like it was right outside. I thought it was raining and there was a storm battering something on the side of the building just outside our window so I opened the blinds to look out and there right outside the window was a bunch of scaffolding that had been erected in the middle of the night. On the scaffolding was a worker looking right at me about 6 inches from my face. Oh and it wasn't raining. Apparently he was removing the bricks or whatever on the outside wall and I think he must have plugged the drain from the ac causing all the condensation to back up and drain into our room. I finally just turned off the ac to stop the condensation from occurring and the drops slowllllllllly stopped (think Chinese water torture). I also tapped on the window a little and he kinda made a little less noise, but the banging persisted all through the night. When we checked out we mentioned this to the guy working the night shift at the front desk and he said he KNEW about the AC already???? Would have been nice to know ahead of time. Anyways, it's unfortunate because without the banging I'd give it 4 stars as we could deal with the ac problem, but the banging all throughout the night seems like a very bad idea for a hostel whose main purpose is...
Read morei opted to stay at the birdnest cafe because of it ' s perfect location - right outside the pasar seni train station ( you can see the hostel from the platform ) and within easy walking distance of some of the major sights .||i had booked a private en suite double room which i thought was a bit pricey at ||$ 23 / night for what you get but then again , we are not talking about a windowless shoe box here , the room was of a good size with high ceilings and a window that looked onto the street . i thought the bed was super comfy , there was A.C. but i did not think it was very strong which i actually did not mind too much as i don ' t like it too cold , wifi worked really well . my only complain would only be that for some reason the bathroom floor was constantly wet as if there was a leak somewhere .... nobody offered to clean the room or change the towels for the whole 4 days that i was there but maybe that is to be expected in a hostel .||they do serve ' breakfast ' on the roof top which is not much but the usual instant coffee with a piece of toast , an egg and some watermelon but for some reason , i found it quite enjoyable , i loved watching the world go about their business as i sipped my coffee quietly ....||the place was not very busy so i basically hardly ever saw anybody around even at breakfast time except for the friendly volunteers who worked there and will , the owner, who was always in & out of the place .||all in all , this turned out to be a great choice for me while i visited K.L. so if you are travelling on a budget and looking for a safe and convenient place to stay , i think this would be a pretty...
