Had a visit to this place for lunch. The moment when we stepped into the entrance, 1 floor up is VCR cafe and Dodoo Kitchen is at the ground floor. The signage says Dodoo Kitchen X VCR, so we thought we could order from both the places. However, since we are there for lunch, we decided to hop into Dodoo.
1st glance as we walked in, looks good, place for some celebration, quiet afternoon. However, we were being allocated a seat right underneath the stairs when all other tables were empty. However, they only serve set lunch which is for 2 pax for lunch and some ala carte pasta and risotto from the menu.
Food.... they just loved to season the food with salt.
Salad: Season salad with salt??? Really?? Overly salty for a very basic plate of salad and taste a bit weird for the sauce. Overall looking at the salad, it looks sad for such a nice shop. Pie tee: uhm.... okay la.... is a black colour pie tee with crabmeat and capsicum. Grill chicken: I wonder why do they even serve grill chicken in a claypot, and the claypot is not even artistic, exactly like a new claypot chicken rice punya claypot (It's not nice actually), and the smoked actually stinks the whole place. Goodness... Texture was okay but tasted like satay. Aglio Olio: Texture of the pasta was Al-Dente, but I think they topped the pasta with don't know what sprinkles, this whole plate of pasta feels sandy and they only serve with shelled clams.
Service: the waitresses don't really speak clear and good english. They were trying to explain each of the dishes but we don't really understand their english. Even our sharing plates weren't changed until we asked for.
Overall: like a cafe trying to serve like a fine cuisine.....
Read more(FYI, booking is under my partners name so we would like to keep it discreet but only the restaurant knows. Our booking was on 16/11 at 8pm.)
Firstly, they sort of got my booking wrong. They had us to wait for minutes outside, if you are considering this place as a “Fine Dining” restaurant then this should not have happened in the first place.
Secondly, the customer relations of the waitresses and waiters are astonishingly terrible. I ordered 1 glass of Moscato. Surprisingly an hour or less later the waiter recommended to add another glass as it “getting 2 glasses of Moscato will be 15% off”
Little did we know, after getting the 2nd glass and enjoying the sort of terrible anniversary time of our life at this restaurant. We went to pay, upon paying we saw the bill and there was no 15% “promotion” and upon confronting them they told me “you heard wrong, getting 1 bottle is 15% off not 2 glasses” BRO?? I heard it, my partner heard it, the other tables heard it even the aneh at the mamak 3 blocks away heard it. Come on.
Lastly, i ordered the wagyu “a special meal for the special day” i requested it to be “well done” because milady doesnt eat bloody meat iykyk. Guess what, the meat arrived and it was bloodier than the red sea. If i wanted a bloody steak i might as well just bit the cow isnt it?
There goes my review. Worst RM700 i’ve ever spent on a “fine dining” dinner.
p:s, the atmosphere is actually nice, the ambience the lighting and all is great just that, for “fine dining” its too noisy. The tables are congested, your customers are right beside each other screaming. No point to play ur lousy jazz songs too loud. Thats why its atleast 4 stars. Not...
Read moreCame here for the cafe on the 13th of July with 3 of my friends and we were left very disappointed.
We ordered different varieties of pastries the pudding, the matcha pusing, one of the milk tea drinks, sparkling yuzu plum and the chicken pastry thing, everything tasted so bad except for the pudding and chicken pastry ( forgot the name).
The matcha pusing bread was hard and the cream was tasteless, by far one of the worst matcha pastry I’ve tasted.
Sparkling yuzu plum was watery and only tasted the sourness from the plum they added. My friend ordered the milk tea and it was the worst, it tasted so bad I can’t describe it. And I’m pretty sure the milk tea menu copied Chagee? It was literally the exact same menu.
The price of everything was not cheap, I would expect the taste to be good for that price but it really was just a waste of money.
The Chinese male cashier had such a bad attitude, the way he talked and his facial expressions made me want to leave. Super unfriendly. Wanted to order one of the Doodoo sandwiches but he said all of them were out of stock? I was there early in the afternoon at 1pm. Waste of time.
And the person working there went to every table several times including mine to ask if all our orders are here already and also to confirm what we ordered. Like do you not have the record on your device already? It was very annoying.
Overall the vibe of the cafe was good, if you really want to try the viral doodoo pudding I recommend you to only go for that and not order anything else. But I personally will not ever go...
