Buckle up because this is not going to be a good review. As a disclaimer, we have been to Jogoya multiple times as we like the place so much. So far it was good. This time, we could not just stay silent because the experience was horrible.

TLDR: I got an allergic reaction from not-so-clean seafood. Friend A got severe food poisoning, Friend B tasted bad oyster.

Booked at 8pm on the last day of Ramadan, 30 March 2025. Slightly after breaking fast rush. Went there with 3 of my friends. Let's call them A, B and C.

Food cleanliness & freshness of seafood: Mind you I am a seafood kaki and never had allergic reaction before from seafood. I got an allergic reaction from most likely the boiled snow crab. I intend to eat 10 pieces of the snow crab, but after 4 pieces, my throat started to itch and has some mild swelling. My friends panic, and they bought (at the advise of the pharmacist) anti-histamine and a tablet of corticosteroid called Prednisolone. After I took the meds, I stopped eating the crab, and just continue with the rest of the seafood. My suspect on the snow crab is that they have a lot of small barnacles on the shells, and these causes the issue. To me, barnacles should be removed from the crab shells as these do not form part of the seafood that you are eating. They are parasites that human don't normally eat and should be removed.

Friend A is so-so on seafood but here, he tasted very bad oysters, bad prawn tempura (the prawn itself was bad), lots of bad seafood & meat skewers. After he had the bad tempura, he immediately stop eating other food as it spoils the taste buds. This has ruined his experience in Jogoya, but the bad experience didn't stop there. Immediately at 3am he suffer a severe food poisoning, throwing up from both ends with a very bad fever and weak body. Get well soon my friend.

Friend B tasted very bad oysters.

Food taste: Everything taste mediocre, but simply not at their level i.e RM230 per pax. The only thing worth mentioning is the boiled fresh tiger prawn. The snow crab lost its sweet crab taste, but I just like crab so much. Had the baby abalone but it tasted really bad, I had to spit it out. Most of the food taste relied on its freshness since they are seafood, but majority of them were not even close to fresh.

Also, somehow our lobster dish was not served with the head? Not a big issue but a still wonder what happen there."

Friend C is a fish enthusiast and just really unhappy that a premium fish (red grouper) was tasteless, we had this fish before, it basically lost the unique taste of the fish (likely due to the non-freshness) and unseasoned.

We couldn't even comment on other things as the food is bad.

The experience was very bad and we probably won't be coming here again after such a disappointing night. We just feel that if just the food taste not so good, it would be forgivable, but when it comes to cleanliness (cleanliness includes the freshness and storage since we are talking about seafood), we are unable to accept this kind...

Jogoya at Starhill Gallery is a standout destination for buffet lovers, boasting an impressive selection that sets the bar high for Japanese cuisine. This expansive buffet is a seafood paradise, featuring an abundance of fresh offerings that will delight any palate. The sashimi selection is particularly noteworthy, showcasing pristine cuts that melt in your mouth.

Diners can indulge in a variety of exquisite seafood, including succulent baby lobsters, tender halibut, flaky cod, and sweet snow crab, all prepared with care to highlight their natural flavors. The addition of abalone adds a touch of luxury, elevating the entire dining experience. For those who enjoy interactive dining, the hot pot station allows guests to craft their own unique broth, enhancing the meal with an element of creativity.

But the feast doesn't end there. The dessert station is a highlight in its own right, featuring branded ice creams like Häagen-Dazs, Baskin-Robbins, and Udder, ensuring a sweet conclusion to the meal. The chocolate truffles and lava cakes are exceptional, providing a rich and indulgent treat that chocolate lovers will adore.

Adding to the overall experience, unlimited fresh coconut water is available, refreshing diners as they savor the wide array of dishes. The atmosphere at Jogoya is lively yet comfortable, making it an ideal setting for both special occasions and casual gatherings.

In summary, Jogoya is not just a buffet; it’s a culinary adventure. With its extensive selection of fresh seafood, delightful desserts, and vibrant atmosphere, it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a top-tier dining experience in...

This was my first time dining here and unfortunately, it was a very poor experience.

The excessive noise in this supposedly high-end restaurant completely ruined my dinner. We spent RM189.10 per person expecting a comfortable environment to enjoy a family meal. However, a group of patrons was playing a very loud and intense game, disregarding other dinners. They were banging on cutlery, dishes, and glasses, creating significant noise.

Crucially, this went on for a full hour without any staff intervention or coordination. We only requested a change of table after that time. The staff promptly agreed and helped us move, which we greatly appreciate.

To make matters worse, as we finally settled into our new table, we wanted to check the food options again, only to find that some dishes were already being cleared away by the staff, and they had started their closing preparations.

Annoyed, I went to ask the front desk what time they closed. They confirmed that the closing time was 10:30 PM, with the last order at 10:00 PM. The staff explained that they were simply moving items to the kitchen, and anything we needed would still be provided.

I don't mean to be difficult, but as a paying customer, having your staff start their full cleanup while we are still dining, long before the last order time, is highly inconsiderate. It raises the question: should we order more or not? It certainly made us feel unwelcome and rushed.

However, the food is ok but the overall experience was severely impacted. I urge the management to address this issue and ensure a more considerate dining...

Visited Jogoya once maybe 5 years ago. Partner loves buffet and wanted to revisit but the recent reviews are very mixed. Decided to give it a try last week. Buffet spread is adequate. There are some items like salmon essentially being cooked or prepped in similar ways (grill, fried, put in salad), but overall there are enough choices to go around. The hot food selections and handrolls are pretty good as they are made to order. I particularly enjoyed the steamed fish dishes and mushroom soup with puff pastry. The sashimi was okay - prepped and placed on ice for a couple hours, not prepared as customers place order. Ice cream and dessert variety is pretty satisfying. I was really disappointed that Matcha lava cake wasn't available the day I visited, but the chocolate lava cake was pretty great. The croffle/waffle had a burnt smell even though it didn't look burnt. Parking design at Starhill isn't great but it wasn't any more expensive than surrounding buildings. Overall it was an okay experience. I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back because it's a bit pricey, but would consider if there's a special occasion.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 6 pm, this Christmas Eve, I’m dining with my aunt, uncle, and partner during our Penang road trip. We’ve made a reservation at a renowned Japanese restaurant at Starhill Kuala Lumpur, known for its extensive buffet that draws food enthusiasts. The spacious & comfortable restaurant offers a variety of cuisines, including Japanese sushi, Western steaks, Chinese dim sum, and more. Their bird nest soup finished fast & only managed to get 1 serving, not enough for all. The staff are welcoming and attentive, ensuring a great dining experience. Highlights of the buffet include fresh, large oysters with a variety of sauces, a range of alcoholic beverages (some included, others charged) & a tempting dessert section featuring ice creams and a chocolate fountain with marshmallows. It’s advisable to arrive early to avoid queues. Convenient parking is available within Starhill Mall Breakdown Bill 4 pax : MYR 792 10% Service Charge: MYR 79.20 6% Service Tax : MYR 47.52 Total bill for 4 pax MYR 918.70
