Firstly, make sure your flight doesn’t arrive relatively early in the morning to check in here in the morning. I did, and what felt like chaos ensued. |I arrived at the ‘location’ of this hotel around 7 in the morning, but couldn’t find it as the ‘Golden Optimum Suites’ name tag wasn’t present anywhere. After roaming round on a wild goose chase between the east and west towers and everything in between, I finally found it. It being the ‘Berjaya East Hotel’, not to be confused with the actual hotel on the west side of the same name.|I rang the number provided to me on booking from Hotels.com, who then abruptly passed me on to one gentleman who was quite rude on the other end. All I wanted to do was put my bags down and then go and roam around for a few hours before a formal check in.|The gentleman on the phone then came down and took my bags from me, with barely a hello to me, and told me to come back at 11, so I did.|At 11, he eventually came down to me and passed me key card, and that was it. He then proceeded to talk to other people and left me too it. No check in, no WiFi password, not even to show me to the room.|After finding me lost in the hotel somewhere, he eventually gave me my bags and took me to my room and ushered me through the door. Welcome finished.|My room seemed quite nice at first, but there was clear roof damage in the bathroom and small graffiti on the bedroom walls, so that dampened slightly any positive feelings I had towards the room.|I booked 2 nights originally, but extended to 3 a shirt time afterwards on booking a few months back. Low and behold, the gentleman knocks on my door at 10:30 am after my 2nd night and asked when I was checking out. I still had the other night. By this point I was fed up with the whole place and just showed him my booking, and he just nodded. |I then asked about WiFi and laundry. He looked at me as if I was stupid regarding the WiFi and took my phone and logged me on; and laundry wise, just told me it was on the 15th floor. End of story.|Now I am just a lowly backpacker travelling through Asia, and I am used to hostels, having just come from a dodgy one in Auckland, but this was the worst by miles. I had payed decent money, and was really looking forwards to enjoying some good time in the peace and quiet of a decent hotel before setting off again, and hosteling it. I should of just stayed in hostels and not wasted the money.|Not a pleasant experience and will never return...
Read moreI'm going to start with saying that both the hotel and my stay was fine - its just really irritating to me to not get what the website/expedia say is included.
The staff is great, the location was fine, the free water bottles were awesome. If the list below is not important to you then I absolutely recommend this hotel. Now for that they said was included when, in fact, it was not:
There was no tea/coffee maker in the room. No kettle, nada. The TV in the room did not work - plenty of "premium channels" was complete bull*. Our TV had one channel, ONE, and it was extremely fuzzy. WiFi worked maybe 70% of the time. Maybe. Breakfast was not a "buffet" like expedia said. In fact you didn't have a choice at all - they offered us a chicken and egg sandwich on white bread with a weird breaded sausage on the side. That's it. One option. It was tiny, extremely unhealthy, and not filling. In fact it was such a bad experience that we didn't go back again, not even for coffee in the morning. Considering that I'm extremely frugal - that's really saying something. To make matters worse the next guy that came in was offered an omelette - but he wasn't a hotel guest (*eye roll). So whatever you do, do NOT pay a little extra for the "breakfast option." Just don't - its not worth it. Buy some yogurt or something and keep it in the refrigerator in your room.
Again if you don't mind not getting what is included, then its fine. I am still giving this hotel 3 starts purely because the staff...
Read moreI was staying in this hotel from 11 - 14 Mar 2016. Booked the superior room. Once check in I realized the hotel not as I expected as wrote in the reviews. Around 09.00 pm, I wanted to take shower, the hot water didn't work, then try to call the receptionist but the phone is not working either. Have to went down to the receptionist and report the problem, because it's already late, promises everything will be fixed at 10.00 am in the morning, for morning shower they let us used an empty room. But once I return to my room around 09.00pm on my second day, no one clean up the room, telephone still broken as well the hot shower. I've to get down to the receptionist and informed everything. The receptionist was very rude, he said that I was "too much". I asked for refund so that I can look for other hotel, but they refused by saying will fix the room in 30 minutes, which they supposed to do that since morning.
I will never ever return to Golden Suites Hotel or recommend anybody to stay in. The room not well maintain and the receptionist especially the man at morning shift is very arrogant, I wonder people like him working as hotel...
