La Pari Pari (Room 12):||Overall, a great long-term stay!||I stayed at a different hotel in Langkawi each week for about 3 months, and this was one of my favorites and the best for overall value.||I will definitely stay here again when visiting Langkawi!||PROS:|1. Good, fast, reliable WiFi;|2. Good, quiet aircon;|3. Very private unit with personal patio;|4. Quiet and private location;|5. Large, comfortable king-size bed with soft, comfortable linens and plenty of pillows;|6. Nice blackout curtains on primary window;|7. Universal travel adapter outlet / power point;|8. Secured, bolted in-room safety deposit box with customizable digital code to store valuables;|9. On-site restaurant/bar with friendly staff that also serves alcohol and can deliver to the room, if needed;|10. In-room desk/workstation and office chair;|11. Large spacious modern unit with nice layout and coastal-theme design;|12. Good location walkable to all areas of Pantai Tengah and only a 20–30-minute walk to Pantai Chenang;|13. On-site staff is very friendly and helpful, including the owners Karina & Jacky and the lovely staff Leen, Azman, and Shagor;|14. Plenty of room lighting options to set the right mood;|15. Comfortable relaxing chair inside room;|16. Large, spacious bathroom;|17. Plenty of space to place items;|18. Lower room rates offered for longer-term weekly and monthly stays;|19. In-room mini-fridge and coffee maker;|20. Keyring has a bottle opener on it, which is useful :)|21. Community entrance is secured with a lockable metal gate, and there is an additional lockable aluminum security access door at your personal patio;|22. Dedicated on-site parking lot with plenty of space for both cars and motorbikes;|23. On-site pool with lounge chairs.||CONS:|1. The two tall rectangular room windows located off to the side, while frosted for privacy, do not have curtains, so natural light enters the room in the morning forcing you to wake up with the sun -- I ended up buying aluminum foil and tape to fix the issue so that I could sleep in as late as I like. The hotel management really should install proper blackout roller shades to cover these windows for light-sensitive sleepers;|2. The soundproofing between units can be improved, but thankfully there is only 1 adjacent unit to each room;|3. Shower drains very slowly, resulting in a standing pool of water after each shower;|4. Water pressure at bathroom sink is very low;|5. No outlets / power points at or near the bed/nightstands;|6. No full-length dressing mirror in the living area;|7. Exhaust vent on ceiling above shower is very dirty and needs to be cleaned;|8. Only 1 rubbish bin in the unit (needs 2), but the office was able to provide an extra bin upon request;|9. No wine glasses or wine corkscrew in the rooms, but you can request from the on-site restaurant;|10. No hot water at bathroom sink (this is common in Asia if not staying at a large commercial hotel);|11. No 24-hr free filtered water refill station at main office (but they refill a water bottle once daily from the attached restaurant and will charge RM5 for additional refills);|12. The on-site pool lacks privacy -- you are basically in a swimsuit relaxing at the pool and less than 10 meters away are people eating in the restaurant...
Read moreUpon arrival my heart sank with what we were saw as we sat around the filthy pool(with filthy sun loungers) waiting for our villas to be ready. My wife wanted to leave immediately however we had paid in full 9 months prior to our visit so we had no choice but to give it a chance. I felt like I’d let my wife down by bringing her here but I went off the photos I had seen when looking for a place to stay in Langkawi. ||I’m not sure what the rules are around false advertising here in a Langkawi however, to still use the same photos from when the place first opened is disgusting behaviour and I know now this was the reason why they took our money upfront with no cancellation options. I wish I had done more research as once I had gone back on booking.com and trip advisor to read other traveler’s reviews, I soon realised there had been no reviews for over 6 months.||We were travelling as a group so we decided to persevere with this place until we found another suitable accommodation. We ended up using other hotel pools and spending over 1,000 MYR per day on food and drinks, which would have been money we would have spent at La Pari Pari if the facilities were as advertised. There is no place to sit as a group, as all the chairs around the pool are filthy and the only clean area is within a restaurant, which they clearly take priory over. ||The villa’s are liveable however again the photos do not represent the true quality. They are dated, dirty and need some TLC. The staff were helpful however you could see they were scared of the owner as she kept barking orders at them to come and tell us we can’t do this or we can’t do that. When we checked out 3 nights early, the staff member understood all our concerns and agreed with our comments. When we checked out, she also said very quickly ‘no refunds, no refunds’.||Overall a terrible experience and an expensive lesson learnt. I’ve been to Langkawi several times and never had a bad experience or been met with dishonesty. Malaysia is known for its hospitality and service and unfortunately this has left a bad taste in my mouth....
Read moreA real disappointment!|Came with friends and family expecting exactly what the pictures show it’s extremely run down, no grass just dusty dead gravelly lawn. All the chairs are mouldy and filthy. There’s also no area to relax as it’s now a restaurant. The staff are polite but the owner has an attitude and unwelcoming! The rooms are large but scruffy and they enter your rooms daily to switch the electric and the aircon off while you’re out! |One free room clean a week and they literally change the bed! Didn’t even empty the bins with toilet paper in! Our room had pubic hairs in the sink.|We actually ended up staying a couple of nights and booked the new 5* across the road for an extra £300 for 4 nights including breakfast and lunch!!!! |The beach towels are like 40 year old flannels! |Over all really poor not worth the money and made to feel guest are not wanted as would rather focus on the restaurant! |The reviews on here are even 9 months ago before mine which made us wonder why it’s 4.5!?!?|It’s also in the middle of the Forrest up a dirt track so you get bugs galore in the rooms and round the gardens. Also the monkeys jumping on the tin roof at 5am every day and the prayer call at 6am drove us nuts! |If the owner does read this my advice to you is open a restaurant and sell your hostel hovel! |All 7 of us literally slept there and went out all day and night. The restaurant also only opens at 11am so no breakfast available, it’s the only place you can’t vape on the terrace anywhere even if there’s a storm! |One early evening while having a storm we thought we would stay and eat and drink save getting wet, the drinks was more expensive than the 5* hotels and other bars around. Also before the bar there opened we was told we could drink our own drinks. Bang on 6pm the asked to dispose of them or leave! |Close to everything but it’s grotty and way over priced! When we checked out 4 days early the manager was NOT surprised and apologised blaming her the owner! |Don’t...
