Ah Chong beach bar cafe — Restaurant in Langkawi Island

I am told that at one time this was a welcoming bar with friendly staff. However, as of late, and from my own experience, the staff are the most unwelcoming, inattentive, unfriendly, rude and obnoxious that I have ever met, in any bar, cafe or restaurant, ever. In fact the slogan behind the bar proclaims "The Customer is Always Wrong". At first, I thought that this was meant to be a joke, but evidently it is not. When I asked a staff member whether he agreed with such sentiments, he confessed that, to him, the customer's satisfaction was of little importance.

I am aware of at least four regular customers who have recently become so tired of the attitude of the staff, that they have decided not to use the place again.

If their objective is to deter customers from visiting their bar, then they are no doubt succeeding. But wouldn't it be easier to put the shutters up and display a big sign declaring...

Truly relaxing place to enjoy some decent cocktails and watch the sunset.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I am Malaysian and it was my first visit here. Just to give some context to other reviewers who have mentioned staff being rude or discriminatory against locals. I certainly did not encounter this.

Prices were reasonable. At RM27-30 a cocktail, I have no complaints at all. Good value for a beachfront venue.

Quality of cocktails - I had 2, GOOD ONE - Very refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed this. AH CHONG’s LONG ISLAND TEA - It was OK but felt slightly unbalanced to me.

Variety of cocktails were a little limited to me. I have read some reviews of a Negroni being ordered but did not see any on the menu. Not sure if they do the classics on request or have shortened the cocktail menu.

Located in the middle of Cenang Beach, this brilliant little beach bar should only be a 5 or 10 minute walk for anyone staying in the area. It has a relaxing and chill vibe, and is the perfect venue for a cool afternoon drink, watching the sunset, or enjoying a late night cocktail. Aliff takes great pride in using the best alcohols to mix an extensive array of cocktails, and all at great prices. We lucked upon this place on our first night in Langkawi, and ended up going back every night during our stay. Next time we are in Langkawi, we will definitely be back to resample Aliff’s gin cocktail menu! Thanks for all the fond...
