Within 5 mins walk to Gerbang Malam, turn left for the famous Fu Shan dim sum or Ming Court dim sum, turn right to Tong Sui Gai for some night time supper or dessert. We had light dinner at the Gerbang Malam area, and then walk to Tong Sui Gai for 2nd round with ice desserts, and from Tong Sui Gai walk to the end, turn left, walk a little to reach the hotel which is a good plan. Also walkable to Ipoh Parade as its within sight at the hotel front door, just that there are quite some traffics. As long as you are willing to walk, the location is actually quite good.
This hotel actually exceed my expectation for its price, which is almost 50% cheaper than Hotel Excelsior located just two streets away. The lobby is really nice and clean. The receptionists was attentive and friendly. When we dropped off in front of the hotel they unlock the door already. Or we can just ring the bell if they didn't notice.
Stayed at the standard double room. The room size is just right for two person. The amenities are pretty basic and functional, just lacking of toothbrush/toothpaste and hair dryer. The cloth hangers only have total of 4, not a huge issue but having about 6 would be good. The bed is not as comfy and the pillow was too soft, managed to get some 4-5 hours sleep anyhow. Air-con remote has abit of issue which we have to press the battery at the back harder to make it work. The shower water heater is an extremist - My skin felt like being burned when setting to the lowest temperature, and it's icy cold if I set the temperature off. Ended up I have to keep switching on & off every 7 seconds to bath with proper water temperature. And it was quite hot in Ipoh so I have to back to hotel to take shower often. Overall is not as bad just a little hiccup on this part.
Unlocking the door or turning on the room power require the hotel room card key. We only have one card key but for couple who usually stay together most of the time, no issue about this.
Definitely will consider staying again if I go...
Read moreStayed 1 night, 16-17 Dec 2024. Triple room (room 212) for family of 3.
Summary: basic, no frills hotel for an affordable and comfortable stay.
Good location, just a minute walk to two dim sum restaurants - Foh San & Ming Court. Other eateries are within short walking distance. We could walk over from Ipoh Old Town (start at Plan B cafe) to the hotel in approx 15-20mins.
Room is very spacious. Overall cleanliness of the room is satisfactory. Staff are polite and professional. Pillow is too soft for my liking but the firmness of the mattress made up for it and could get a good night's sleep. Did not encounter any noise outside the room nor from the traffic.
Room came with basic amenities and toiletries: tv with remote control & basic local tv channels, mini fridge(did not use), 3 tubes of shower gel, 3 tubes of conditioner shampoo, 3 bath towels, 2 toilet rolls, 3 mineral water bottles, cups and electric kettle. There is a hot/cold water dispenser at the lift lobby. Shower water pressure is good and temperature is adjustable. Other amenities like iron, hair dryer etc are available on loan but we did not try the service.
Beside the soft pillows, the other downside would be the lack of power outlets. There is only one by the bed. We had to unplug the fridge to use the...
Read moreWe booked a room for three pax. Arrived hotel around 6 pm and was informed that the lift malfunctioned and was under repair. Staff arranged a room on the lowest available floor so that my elderlies only need to climb two floors. Went out for dinner. Came back and was going to take the stairs but staff saw us and quickly came to tell us that lift was repaired. Staff also helped to carry luggage up to the room. We left one luggage with the evening reception and the morning reception brought out our luggage when we checked out without us requesting. ||||Room is spacious and clean. Didn't smell any cigarettes. Bathroom is also spacious. But toilet bowl will get wet after showering. Good water pressure. Pillow is real flat and soft. I had to fold it for height. There is a mini fridge in the room. Nothing much on TV. Only a few hangers but we're staying only one night so no problem. Our room has a window facing the main road. Some vehicles were really noisy. ||||Location - Walking distance to Ming Court Dim Sum. No steps along the way if you use the main road. Not much vehicles in early hours. Near but didn't dare to take on the traffic to cross over to desserts street. Booked Grab and only paid RM6 to Ipoh...
