I recently stayed at Pearl Inn in Taiping and had a generally pleasant experience with a few caveats.
The room was clean, decent, and well-equipped with all the necessary utilities such as towels, hot water, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrush, tissue papers, a strong hair dryer, and slippers. The amenities provided were thoughtful and ensured a comfortable stay.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel warm and welcomed throughout our visit. Their hospitality was one of the highlights of our stay.
We were delighted with the two vegetarian breakfasts included: a sandwich and nasi lemak. Both were delicious and nostalgic, and I highly recommend trying them.
However, there was an unpleasant smell when we first entered the room. We had to spray some lemongrass to get rid of it, which was a bit off-putting.
Additionally, it was hard to fall asleep due to some noises from the nearby Lake Garden and other guests. The walls and windows seemed quite thin, which made the room less soundproof than expected.
On a positive note, the hotel's location is strategic, being very close to Lake Garden and Maxwell Hill. This made it convenient for sightseeing and enjoying the natural beauty of Taiping.
Overall, Pearl Inn offers good value with some room for improvement in sound insulation and initial...

Read morePearl Inn is a lovely with interesting decorations from the past. Love the staff here, very polite and friendly.
Every morning, we have simple but nice breakfast. Though you do need to pre book (a day earlier) your breakfast by selecting either Nasi Lemak vegetarian or Sandwich.
Our room view was gorgeous, facing the lake. Beautiful tiles in the room too.
The old Japanese slippers was used as room slipper. So nostalgic, but not very practical. It’s heavy and uncomfortable since the size was too large for my feet.
Disadvantages of this place: Night time - the motorcycle noise from the road beside the inn was so loud. Probably racing among each other.
Not soundproof - I woke up because I heard next room guests walked out from their bedroom.
When booking the room via Agoda, it was not stated that no lift at this inn. My 82 years old Father had to walk up to second floor of the building for his room. And down to the ground floor again, multiple times.
So please take note, that there is no lift here. Be mindful of your heavy luggage and senior citizens traveling with you. This hotel may not be suitable.
This inn is perfect for young...
