Noise, noise, noise, tired and filthy would describe this run-down place. Head banging music at the rooftop bar kept us awake, resonating down to our room on level 2 and I’m partially deaf. My wife went to investigate, coming across other guests from level 4 who were also disturbed and found a full volume live show for an audience of less than 10. Malaysian motorcycle people (and cars) have found the noisy muffler as a good thing to have. The street noise from them is horrendous, as the windows here do nothing to lessen it and Saturday nights go to a whole other level making you think you’re at some hoon race meet until the early hours of the morning – no sleep there! The hallways echo and seem to amplify voices, and if a child squeals, it’s like being next to a small screaming jet engine. The housekeeping staff swan around in the store room, talking loudly. Also as they work in the rooms and go along the hallways, their noisy voices can be heard, like shouting. And let’s not forget banging doors - and don’t they echo through the place. We arrived into a room with the toilet running constantly and were changed to another room (housekeeping staff in a better hotel would be taught to have an eye for this sort of thing, to report to maintenance or would have the common sense to realise it was not working as it should). Shower cubicle has much mould and built up filth around tiles and filth in corners. Pool water is filthy and also has a milky appearance. Bottom of pool is gritty with dirt. Tiles around pool need cleaning. The whole appearance of pool area is worn, dirty and needs renovating. Supposed to be open for guests from 8am but a fellow one morning was making a bad attempt at cleaning it, so it could not be used. Never any towels at poolside, even after asking for some more than once. Towels in room badly stained. Carpet in the dark, dingy hallways is a disgrace, with stains all over it. Some furniture in dining room falling apart. Food is not that great, better off walking 5 minutes to Double Tap for better food at about the same price. As one other reviewer said, “Do not stay here.” It’s a shocker. My wife and I have stayed in many hotels around the world and we can’t think of a worse one. A much better option is Novotel - a real hotel, quite a few levels of quality up from this horrid place; and hard to believe, but Novotel is cheaper. Well, when we moved from Flemington to Novotel, Novotel was cheaper. After Flemington we would have been quite prepared to pay more! Something that is embarrassing (for them – at Flemington) is on the wall behind reception they have a plaque: “Winner of travellers choice Trip advisor 2012” The embarrassing part of that, is of course, it’s 10 years ago. They’ve not kept up the standard to win it ever since or even go close. So my opinion is, they’re living on past glories. Suggestion: close the place and renovate properly. To Management: go around and have a...
Read moreNightmare of a hotel. Booked their restaurant for my wedding and paid more than $10k, and even asked for a nice room as it was my wife's first time in Taiping. Was told it was one of the better rooms. Get to the first floor and it was back to back with the public toilets, and all we could hear was the toilet being flushed every 5 minutes. The toilet was broken and dirty, the bed had hair on it and blood smear. We were horrified and went downstairs to ask for a better room, even asking why we were given that. We were advised that was the standard room and it was for 'convenience' for the bride, just so she could 'walk less' to the restaurant where we were holding reception.
Unacceptable. We were then given another room on a higher floor (with the exact same condition). There were tissues on the floor. The aircon was noisy all night and cold, the toilet sink had a missing plug, AND the safe was not working. We could only leave valuables lying around the room with a Do Not Disturb sign.We assumed this was normal and it was the best they could do, until someone across the hall checked out and we had a look at their rooms.
What. A. Contrast. Beautiful curtains, nice park side views, things were neat and tidy. We then went downstairs to speak to the manager and was told the hotel owner/in charge was not available this weekend and there was nothing they could do.
Guess what? We went back to the room only to find their cleaning staff had instructions to go in and quickly clean up the room. Thank god we took photos and we even have a video of the cleaning staff explaining that EVEN THOUGH WE HAD DO NOT DISTURB, they were told to go in and quickly tidy it up, hence zero evidence.
In 2 nights, and a guest who had not only booked their entire function room for a wedding, brought along my entire family who also booked another 4-5 additional rooms, I am absolutely livid at the type of service they provided, even breaching security at one point.
I was then told at checkout they would just write my email down and send me an email apology. Guess what? Never happened.
This message is to the hotel owner - I will be seeking legal compensation with your hotel and your staff. While they breached my room security, I had all the wedding jewellery, watches and cash lying around because YOUR SECURITY BOX was not working.
There isn't much more of a review that needs to be put here. Anyone looking to...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights at Flemington Hotel.
Upon arrival, the security guard kindly directed us to park in the basement car park. However, it was apparent that the hotel lacked sufficient parking spaces for its guests. Additionally, there is no lift connecting the basement car park to the lobby, which meant we had to carry our heavy luggage up the staircase.
The reception staff seemed poorly trained and unwelcoming. In particular, one female staff member appeared disengaged, leaning against the wall with an indifferent expression.
The room we were allocated was disappointing. There was no cabinet or rack to hang towels and clothes. When we called reception, they sent us a few hangers but couldn’t provide a solution when we asked where to hang them. The TV didn’t work and seemed to be there just for decoration. The room’s atmosphere was unappealing, with bright light bulbs and outdated interior design, giving it a cheap feel. It’s high time the management considered renovating the rooms.
On a positive note, breakfast was acceptable. I enjoyed the warm croissants, freshly cooked eggs, and the quality of the nasi lemak. However, the hot and cold beverages, such as teh tarik and juices, were overly sweet, so I stuck to plain water. The kitchen crew, on the other hand, stood out for their helpfulness and attention to detail. When I asked them to refill warm water in our flask, they thoughtfully wiped it dry before handing it back to us, which was a touching gesture.
The hotel’s only redeeming feature is its excellent location, right beside Taiping Lake. We enjoyed the convenience of walking out to explore the lake and its activities.
I hope the management will take steps to improve this hotel, making it a more enjoyable destination for...
