I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of January 2022. The hotel is in a nice area close to shops, cafes, restaurants, street food, convenience stores, and a Sumesa grocery store. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, and another one adjacent to it on the other side; it is only open from 7AM -2PM. I walked to Paseo de la Reforma and Centro Historico, or if you're not a walker, Ubers are readily available. ||||My room was large, and divided into three parts; bedroom; dressing room with clothing rack, full-length mirror, and sink; and bathroom with a large shower. The water was hot, and had good pressure. The bed was comfortable, and there was an outlet near the headboard so I could easily charge my electronics. Wifi was excellent.||||The room, including the dressing room, was very dim. There were no bedside lamps, just a light attached to the wall above the bed, and a small lamp hanging over the TV. There was a large picture window in the room, which helped with lighting, but I didn't open the curtains completely for privacy reasons. My room faced the street, but I heard very little street noise. Likewise, I did not hear noise from adjacent rooms or other guests, either. ||||The biggest drawback to my stay was how cold the rooms were, almost inexplicably so. During the day the outside temp was in the low to mid-70's F (~23-24 C), but the room felt like it was about 60 degrees (16 C) or less. At night the room temperature felt like it was near-freezing. I got an extra blanket, which helped a little, but not enough.||||As large as the room is, it could easily accommodate a mini-fridge, but there wasn't one. There was no coffee maker, tea kettle, or microwave either, and none available in the lobby.||||The room prices for this hotel fluctuate a lot, and are much pricier if you book on short notice. I only paid $27 USD total per night, including tax, but I have seen instances where it was double that. I think the room was a good bargain for the price I paid, but not if you pay much more than that.||||If you don't mind cold rooms, and can get a room at a reasonable price, then I recommend staying here. Unfortunately, the icy rooms were a deal breaker for me, and I probably wouldn't...
Read moreI'm dedicating my valuable time to share this review about the hotel because my experience left much to be desired. My initial motivation for choosing this establishment was the promise of an immersive local living experience. Indeed, it did deliver on this front, but to an extent that made me feel like a resident in a less affluent part of the country. The hotel is essentially an old building that's received a fresh coat of paint and a few superficial embellishments in typical colors and shapes, offering little more than that.
Regrettably, the sanitary conditions fell far short of expectations. The bathroom featured a sink marred by limescale, and the shower was not only poorly sanitized but also old and encrusted with a significant amount of limescale.
The website had assured us of air-conditioned rooms, but the reality was quite different. Instead of air conditioning, we were provided with a portable fan, which didn't quite meet our cooling needs.
To compound our disappointment, the two towels provided in our room were worn and frayed. When we requested additional towels, we were informed that an extra charge would apply, which was an unwelcome surprise.
As evening descended, the hallways remained shrouded in darkness. The hallway lights were notably slow to illuminate, potentially posing a hazard for elderly individuals or children navigating them around 7:00 PM.
Furthermore, the absence of a mini-fridge in the room was a notable inconvenience, leaving us without a means to keep our beverages cold.
In an otherwise disheartening stay, the one bright spot was the delightful breakfast prepared by a gracious lady each morning, available for around $9. It was a delicious start to the day, and the lady's warm and welcoming service was genuinely appreciated. However, this positive experience was starkly contrasted by the underwhelming service at the reception desk.
In conclusion, I hope this candid account of my experience aids you in making an informed decision when considering this hotel...
