AMAZING experience! I hosted a group trip of 11 people and we had a chocolate workshop here. Monica was outstanding and the experience was by far everyone's favorite of the trip. Aside from the chocolate being delicious, we learned so much about the process, how the farmers care for the trees, fermentation, and so much more. It was about 1.5 hours and we were having fun the whole time. It ended with us being able to grind our own cacao beans and making some chocolate. We also had been there a few days before and returned later. Their chocolate drinks are so good. This will definitely be part of my Mexico City itinerary each time. Muchas gracias for accommodating our group and giving us the deep dive on chocolate.

This is, hands down, my new favorite place in Juárez neighborhood. I'd read about it in the new-openings list nearby and knew I had to try it. Bottomline: they know their work. We got a 10min explanation from the barista (?) who carefully detailed the whole chocolate process, from the seeds until the drinks they offer. I tried a "washed" cacao drink with guajillo and mulato and MY GOD it was wonderful. I was very happy both with the drinks and the service. They also have mexican treats to pair with the drinks, but I'd just eaten; i'll definitely give them a chance sooner than later. Service is awesome; food is excellent. I cannot praise this place enough.

La Rifa is a place I really wanted to like more than I did. It's got a lot going for them. There's great outdoor seating and a lot of variety in their selection. You can get the drinks hot or cold, with milk or water, and in many different levels of chocolate ranging from milk chocolate to dark to 100% dark. They also sell chocolate bars. Unfortunately their chocolate isn't that good. The drinks fall flat, and if you get one with honey you won't be able to taste it. The chocolate always has a tendency to sink to the bottom so you won't taste it, either. It's a cute place to visit but don't prioritize it like I did.

If you're a chocolate lover you need to get to La Rifa. We found the place by following our nose as we got into the neighborhood. The scent really carries and is like a big welcome mat. We were greeted with a smile and saw that there is a very organized system to request a drink just the way you want it. You can choose the strength of your chocolate, if you want milk and spices. The preparation is traditional, by hand, and obviously done with much care. The results: delicious hot chocolate which was a joy to drink while watching the scene in the square. We were offered water after we were seated, and just overall the service was top notch. There is also a large selection of chocolate bars, snacks, and other goodies. I will be back here a few more times during our visit...

If you are looking to try amazing hot chocolate in Mexico City this is the place to visit ! They have Hot chocolate with varying percentages of cocoa available with milk or water. They also have fermented hot chocolates available. They have a pretty good selection of chocolate bars, cocoa powders and cocoa nibs available for purchase as well. Of all the chocolate stores I visited, this was my favorite. I particularly liked the hot chocolate with milk and cardamom. You can get pucks with Coco and sugar for souvenirs to easily make hot chocolate at home. They also baked goods available. You can get chocolate tamales to eat there or some pre-packaged for traveling if you want to take some home. Definitely worth a visit and not too far of a walk from...
