I stayed with Virtual Homes for two months, and while I had high hopes based on the modern-looking apartment pictures, my experience was incredibly disappointing.
Failing to Honor the Reservation: Despite confirming my apartment at Zamora 150, La Condesa, three months in advance with a 25% deposit, Virtual Homes sent me an email just three days before my arrival, stating they would be relocating me to a different apartment at Chapultepec 264, La Roma, for 13 days. This was frustrating and disruptive.
Gas Leak and Sewage Problem: Upon being relocated to Zamora 150, I noticed a strong sewage odor. I contacted the administration, and they sent a plumber whose brilliant solution was to open the windows and leave. After ten days of back-and-forth, and three more visits from the plumber, it turned out the smell was actually a gas leak—a dangerous situation that could have been fatal. Virtual Homes seemed to ignore the seriousness of the issue, suggesting we were exaggerating and even implying that we should leave if we were unhappy.
Unethical Pricing Tactics: When Virtual Homes finally acknowledged the problem, they gave us two replacement apartments to choose from. We selected one, but the next day, they informed us that the price had increased for the apartment we had chosen. This felt like a bait-and-switch tactic, as they failed to honor the original price quoted. This is unprofessional and shows a lack of integrity.
Changing Quotes: After being forced to relocate due to the gas leak at Zamora 150, Virtual Homes insisted I pay more for the replacement apartment at Chapultepec 264. This felt completely unfair, especially given the dangerous circumstances surrounding the relocation.
Cold Showers: I haven’t had a normal hot shower during my entire two-month stay. For the first 13 days at Chapultepec 264, the shower alternated from extremely hot to freezing cold. After moving to Zamora 150, there was no hot water at all. Upon returning to Chapultepec 264 after the gas leak, the shower worked for a week, but then the system failed again. Despite notifying the staff, the issue was never resolved, and no alternative solutions were offered. As a result, I had to use the gym’s shower facilities (owned by another company), which is certainly not something I expect from a hotel or rental service.
No Attention to Guest Needs: Virtual Homes is not a hospitality business; it’s a real estate company. You’re not treated like a guest, but more like a number on a spreadsheet. The locations are understaffed to increase profits. There’s no housekeeping service—you’re expected to clean the bathroom yourself and wash towels and change sheets. Every time I contacted the owner, Nathan Carrillo, with an issue, he would deflect and avoid finding solutions.
This has been a terrible experience, and I would not recommend Virtual Homes to anyone. The lack of professionalism, unethical practices, and neglect of basic hospitality standards made my stay highly frustrating...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE- DIRTY AND UNSAFE- the five star reviews below are obviously fake and were all written 8 months ago. My partner and I booked an apartment here and our experience was so bad that we left early.
We expected a room on the 6th floor as listed on our booking, however on the day of check in they sent us details for a room on the 1st floor instead. When we emailed the host to clarify, they sent us an access code for a room on the 6th floor, but when we arrived at the building we were shocked to find out that upon entering the room, it was already occupied. We immediately voiced our concerns with the host and after over an hour of back and forth communication they told us that there had been a mix up and the only room available was the room on the 1st floor. As it was late at night we had no option but to take the room.
Two days later, we were told that we could move up to the 6th floor, but unfortunately the room was just as bad as the room on the 1st floor.
Both rooms had the following issues:
The bed was covered with hairs and bugs/ bug eggs and both of us were bitten over the course of our stay. We were covered in itchy bites and could hardly sleep.
In addition to this, the blankets, bedsheets, pillows and towels provided were all dirty and stained, and the shower did not work properly and would go from super hot to cold every few seconds.
Poor ventilation- our neighbours on the 6th floor smoked for many hours and the smell of cigarettes filled the entire studio all night , and despite opening the windows the smell would not disappear. We also heard constant noises and knocking at our door, causing us to feel unsafe, which we already felt during the first night when we were given an occupied room.
After this we decided to leave early and book a hotel.
The only plus about this apartment was its location but other than that there are many other better places in Mexico City that you could stay at.
I never write negative reviews for places but this stay left me with no choice, for your peace of mind I strongly urge you to reconsider staying here. Search up “VH Apartments” on Google maps or Airbnb and you’ll see other negative reviews from other...
Read moreIf you can handle a cold shower, during your entire stay, go for it. I stayed 45 days in this place, and because I paid in advance, couldn’t relocate. of those 45 days, only 6 days I had a hot shower. Imagine waking up everyday to freezing cold water. Worse still, sometimes there was no water. Two days they left us without water for the toilet or shower. Other days it was freezing cold for one second and scorching hot the next, on and off like that. The managers don’t care, it doesn’t matter how many times you ask for help, they just won’t fix anything. I googled the owner’s instagram, Nathan Ck, to tell him about the problems and he didn’t care either. During the winter, the room was also scorching hot, you couldn’t sleep, it felt like a sauna, that you had...
