Papa Guapa — Restaurant in Mexico City

First of all, they do not allow customizations or substitutions. Whatever is on the menu is what you get. Also, despite what the menu says online, there are no sweet potatoes at all. All I wanted was a baked sweet potato with butter. I was told they don’t offer it. So I said how about a regular potato with butter. I said I’d pay whatever price for one of the potatoes on the menu, just leave out all the other stuff. I was told No. I should have left then. But then the next problem. I cut myself on a shard of glass in my booth. Apparently, they sat us at a booth where there was broken glass between the back and the seat. I showed the wait staff the glass and their response was, oh yeah, that light fixture is busted. I look up and indeed it is cracked and falling apart. I ran to the bathroom to apply pressure and clean the wound, but there was no soap. No soap. When I returned to my booth, they had already seated another couple in the same booth with the still cracking glass up above. No remedy. Do not come here. It’s not safe. We wandered in here blind on our last day in CDMX and the food is so good I had to write my first review. While eating I decided to look at the reviews here and they are spot on, this place is delicious!

It centers around loaded potatoes which I’m not a fan of in general but I ordered the wings and they were spectacular. They came with some spiral fries and fried cheese curds with jalapeño and those were also amazing.

Great change of pace from all of the Mexican food we ate on this trip. If you are debating coming in this restaurant, just do it you will...

Un sitio donde las protagonistas son las papas, ya sea fritas o en puré, pero especialmente como papas rellenas que tienen nombres haciendo referencia a muchas artistas femeninas y que le dan un toque divertido al menú para complementar el aspecto temático de este lugar.

Papa Guapa ha sido un buen lugar para acompañar a amigos que no son veganos gracias a que tienen menú a base de plantas y que, para mi gran emoción, han ido actualizando incrementando las ofertas veganas y dando la posibilidad de sustituir las proteínas de platillos que originalmente no estaban pensados como veganos. Mi favorita es la Papa Donatella ahora que ofrecen también mayor variedad de quesos veganos, porque es deliciosa la combinación del sazonado de la papa con los jitomates y la cremosidad del queso. Entre otros platillos de la carta vegetal, la papa Hepburn tiene un sabor mucho más “sano” porque la relación en el relleno de quesos-vegetales es superada por los champiñones, espinacas y jitomates.

Los precios de los platillos en general me parecen accesibles para la zona y el hecho de que es un restaurante temático. Me gusta mucho que las papas puedan ser ordenadas en distintos tamaños.

En aspecto de servicio, no me ha tocado que sea tan ágil y lo señalo más que nada porque los he tendido visitar poco después del horario de apertura mientras los clientes son aún muy pocos. En ambiente, considero que la decoración del sitio es bastante genial, pero me ha tocado ver la barra de sodas siendo ocupada por cajas o inventario que disminuyen el encanto del retro...
