TLDR: they claim all shirts are original and price them as such, but they are not. The employees refused to work with me when I returned upon finding I’d been explicitly lied to. Buyers BEWARE.

Alright so this place is extremely cool, but the owner is not honest (or is not well educated in how to determine if a shirt is original) and none of the employees have the authority to make decisions without the owners permission. I was told that all of the shirts are original upon explicitly asking. It was clear many of them were, but some that are not are mixed in and priced the same as those that are. I spent $315 USD in the place and one of the shirts I bought was a Grateful Dead shirt that I know is often reproduced but I was told it was original so I went for it. It only took a few minutes of research when I got home to realize that is is not original and absolutely not worth $125 USD. I immediately sent an email to give them a heads up and the website says there is a 48hr return window which disagrees with the receipt which said there are no returns. I returned to the store the next day and the employees told me “they doubted the shirt wasn’t original” but I had proof that it wasn’t (the tag is from 2001 at the earliest, in 1995 they did not have screen printed tags, I should have known). I was very kind and patient and asked for an exchange. They called the owner and made me wait for 45+ minutes to get a response. It was insane. Eventually they offered to exchange it for a shirt that was original but that I likely would not have spent that kind of money on. They tried to make me pay the difference ($15 USD) but I insisted it be an even exchange and they refused so I said I wanted a return. They asked me for my PayPal account to which I didn’t have easy access to so I insisted they give me cash or put it back on my credit card. Which they finally agreed to give me cash. Again, I was very calm the entire ordeal even though it took an hour. It’s a cool store but you have to be really careful and do your own research. They have WiFi so you can search Reddit while you’re...

Goodbye Folk is one of those rare finds that makes you glad you wandered in. The shop is beautifully curated so you don’t have to dig through piles to get to the gems. Everything feels intentional and stylish, and as my photos show, the selection is impressive. That said, the pricing reflects the curation. This is not the place for thrift level steals, it is more about paying for a well selected mix of vintage and upcycled fashion. Fair enough, but worth noting.

Where things stumbled for me was the customer service. Everyone was friendly enough, but when I asked for details on the provenance of certain pieces, the answer I got was a flat “we have a lot of things, I can’t tell you what the brands are.” Since Goodbye Folk puts their own label on upcycled or resold items, you really have no way of knowing the origin, even when the quality clearly suggests it started as a high end brand. Oddly, every item had a barcode, which made me think the information was there if someone wanted to look it up, but the staff did not make the effort.

We still left with several great pieces and overall I would recommend the store, but in a city where customer service generally goes above and beyond, Goodbye Folk felt like an exception. Five star inventory and vibe, three star service, landing squarely at four...

They mention a 20% discount for your purchase at the next store but don’t explain that it’s only on the same or lesser value at either store. My friend and I both purchased items and when we looked our receipt it was less that 10% off. When I tried to call and clarify they mentioned some additional limitations to the discount, which if they had told us we would have shown both the receipts from a previous purchase, both with 20% off at a greater value than the new purchase (total added up to more than the second purchase so we should have receive the 20% as originally mentioned). They basically said they couldn’t do anything other the phone. Really disappointed given we spent $400+ total. Now feeling taken advantage of. Please note, I speak Spanish and communicated with staff in...

My experience with Goodby Folk was really unsatisfying. I asked about their sales in North Face Jackets and how used they were and they replied they couldn’t understand my question. I apologised about not understanding they terms of “good conditions” and then I unfollowed them cause I didn’t liked they way of explaining the whole thing BUT then I was really polite and then I figured it out they blocked me!! And of course I couldn’t believed it. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL. If it wasn’t because of that I wouldn’t had written this comment.

Extremely expensive for a thrift store and I've been to many in several countries. 1800 pesos or $90usd for vintage glasses is shocking, 1200pesos/$60 for unbranded 80s gym shorts and vintage shirts are also $60/ 1200 pesos. I have flown to NYC and California for less and bought more. The store is well curated among 4 or 5 floors, but the clothing skewed more towards American looks, styling and brands. You can find a lot cheaper and bigger selection at the Flea Markets in Teptio on Sundays.
