Bait Lajam Tacos Árabes — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Medium size restaurant with 8 tables inside with a large fan as well as a few tables for outside dining - patio style. I chose the 300gr of Carney traditional mixed with onions, 3 pitas and 3 tacos and spicy sauce, if needed.

The meal was not expensive 115 pesos, service was good in Spanish but, my waiter understood and spoke a bit of English...nice gesture and came to see me to see if i was doing ok with my meal...this earns points ;)

Food was good but, the carney was a little too oily / fat for me and I was not sure if it was fresh of the day or not. Pitas and tacos were hot and well rapped in aluminium sheets.

I got a taco arabe jocoque cremoso, & my son got a taco harina BBQ (although I think it'd be even better as arabe instead). Both were delicious and bigger than the average taco (the arabe is like a pita bread & therefore even more filling since it's thicker). The BBQ sauce tasted very much like regular BBQ dipping sauces from the US, so of course, my kid was happy with the familiar taste. I've never had jocoque cremoso before, but I still thought it was good. The flavor reminded me of what I'd had with a gyro before. We'll likely come back here...

At first we thought this was a regular Mexican taco joint but turns out it was a yummy middle eastern jam spot. So why not right? The staff was super polite an accommodating for our party of 9. They were so nice a guy across the street had a dog get lose an it ran away an one of the staff members help catch it by giving it food. How sweet right?
