PURSE STOLEN HERE! While the food was good, my purse was stolen while we were eating IN the restaurant, yet none of the staff seemed even to care! We asked if they were contacting the police and when, after 20 minutes, realized they weren't, we called on our own. The restaurant's most important concern seemed to be not for us as their customers, but how long the police were hanging around in the front of their restaurant. They wouldn't even let the police have a look at the security footage and said we had to go to the police department to make a police report so they could get a warrant for the camera footage. The most insulting thing is the last charge on our credit card was for the restaurant bill, before our credit card company shut it off because the thief tried to charge several thousands of dollars online while we were in the restaurant. You would have at least thought they would have apologized and comped breakfast for our aggravation. I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to cancel credit cards and going from one police station to the next and, in the end, getting no help from the police either. We definitely won't be back and don't recommend it to others.
UPDATE: After posting reviews in several places, I have learned that several people have had this exact situation happen to them in this restaurant. Eat here at your own risk! And the response I got, below, was either a boldfaced lie or I haven't been given the courtesy of a personal update from the restaurant, as the police told me directly at the time that the restaurant manager was refusing to provide them the security camera footage. Sounds to me like just a lame try to save face on...
Read moreGoogle says I haven't reviewed Chez Céline, fortunately I save the reviews I post of all my favorite places. Chez Céline is a charming French café that encapsulates the essence of Parisian life in a small, inviting space. With its rustic decor, complete with vintage posters and warm lighting, the atmosphere exudes a cozy ambiance that invites you to linger over a cup of coffee.
The menu, while not extensive, offers a delightful selection of classic French pastries and light fare. The croissants are flaky and buttery, and the Nutella and banana crepes are month watering. Their salads are a must-try, perfectly crafted and created with fresh ingredients that burst with flavor.
The coffee is perfectly brewed, with such an amazing aroma that complements the sweet treats beautifully and drifts down 5th Ave, drawing you in to see. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch to the experience.
They may not break new ground in terms of originality, its charm lies in its simplicity and dedication to quality. It’s a perfect spot for a leisurely breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack, making it a beloved hidden gem for locals.
If you find yourself wandering the streets, be sure to pop in for a taste of France right at your doorstep, you will...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Celine for breakfast and I must say, it was a delightful experience. To start, the French Toast was simply divine. The thick slices of bread were perfectly crispy on the outside while still being soft and fluffy on the inside. The rich, buttery flavor paired with the sweetness of the syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar made for a delightful start to my morning.
In addition to the French Toast, the bread selection was also noteworthy. The assortment of tasty breads, including croissants and baguettes, were all freshly baked and made for the perfect accompaniment to the delicious spreads and jams provided on the table.
For those looking for a healthier option, the quinoa bowl was a standout. The quinoa was cooked to perfection and the mix of vegetables and herbs added a fresh burst of flavor to the dish. The addition of a poached egg on top added a creamy texture and richness to the dish, making it a perfect combination of healthy and indulgent.
All in all, I would highly recommend Chez Celine for breakfast. The food is top-notch and the service is excellent, making for a memorable dining experience. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and try the French Toast, breads and quinoa bowl. You won't be...
