Cockroaches in room, dirty towels and NO REFUND !||||This has to be the worst experience I have had in any hotel - do not stay here! We checked into the hotel and right form the start felt our room was not as clean as it should have been. There were dead flies on the floor and a lot of dust, suggesting it had not been freshly cleaned. ||||I went to take a shower and before went to put some tissue in the bin in the bathroom. When I lifted the lid of the bin two cockroaches ran out into the bathroom. We killed one but the other one ran into the wall (again - reflects the poor condition of the building). ||||After this we did not want to stay in the hotel. This has to be the worst experience I have had in any hotel - do not stay here!
They offered us an upgraded room which we felt forced to accept as it was after midnight and we had never been to this part of Mexico before. Also they outright refused to refund us despite the reason us wanting to stay there was their fault.
The upgraded room also was of a low standard. The towels were dirty with pink stains, fridge was dirty, floor dusty and we also found more insects in this room too.
After not sleeping that night due to feeling unclean, unsafe (the main doors of the hotel are open all night so theoretically anyone could walk up into the hotel) and the noise of the street (barking dogs all night) we asked if we could have a refund of our two week stay as we no longer wanted to stay in these conditions and believe it was not worth the money.
They refused to refund our stay and stuck by the ‘hotel policy’ - a policy which we asked to see in writing and which they would not provide. They also blamed the pink towel stains on my girlfriend removing her makeup when she didn’t wear any makeup the day we arrived as we had been travelling the whole day and she noticed the stains before she was about to take a shower.
It is a hotels duty to provide a clean, sterile environment- especially in a post COVID world - which we did not receive and therefore we believe they breached their offer of hospitality.
We moved hotels and have kept the room key until we check out and various members of staff have told us they went into our room without our permission and had since cleaned it and switched out the dirty towels/fridge - thankfully we took photos! They have also lied and said that we were to blame for the dirty towels and that we had insulted staff which we had not. Read moreWe loved the super stylish en suite room at this truly unique boutique hotel. Every aspect of the decoration was well considered and tasteful, and the sliding glass windows on two sides enhanced the feeling of space in this generously proportioned room. With a huge bed too! The bathroom was really large with stylish wooden decorations and a very good shower.||The staff were friendly and helpful and we have no hesitation in recommending …… as a great place to stay, in an ideal location (on the main Centro road). The entire hotel, rooms and pool area were very clean and well maintained.||The town itself is expensive, with taxis and collectivos at higher prices than other towns. We also did not like the expectation for a tip of between 15% to 20% at every restaurant.||There is a good selection of vegan and vegetarian outlets around town, and we recommend the evening gathering place of Palma Park for a variety of food outlets and friendly atmosphere. Different live music and dance events occur here on different nights of the week.||Take a comfortable bus, from the central bus station, for 390 pesos, direct to Cancun airport when you need to leave. Just make sure you queue up for your tickets a couple of days...
