DICK´S DIVE — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

I ate, drank, socialized and listened to two bands on several visits here. Of the many choices you have in “Tourist Central” this was my favorite. The bar staff who unfortunately I don’t remember all their names were outstanding; very friendly and efficient. When there was live music I moved from the bar down at tables closer to the band where the wait staff wasn’t as friendly. This place books some great entertainment although a lot of the crowd showed little interest in the music and yelled to be heard over it. I must recognize one bartender whose name I remember because we became good friends is Gustavo; just a really good guy. My husband was wanting some coconut shrimp so we stopped in last night before catching the sunset. Our drinks were served cold and quickly. Our server was good and pleasant. It seemed that their outdoor space used for dining by Dicks is also a public thoroughfare as bkies and people kept coming by next to us enroute to a parking lot or something behind it. It turned out to be free tacos with your drink night (on Sundays). You get two chicken tacos. They were made on a grill (near the parking lot end of the outdoor area). They were basic, but good. We were stopped by the normal calls from touts but actually stopped in because we were just looking for a quite-ish place to have a drink and glad we did. The staff were very professional but in a laid back way, explaining we had to step on the disinfection foot pad, wash our hands with soap and water, do a temperature check and wear masks if we got up from our table. Whole spiel given quickly in a very nonchalant manner!! Love it! We just had 2 Sol and chips and salsa and everything was delicious! I guess the chips have to be made fresh to comply with government policy and I am ruined! They were absolutely the best tortilla chips I have ever eaten anywhere!
