I wanted to rate this place highly, but unfortunately, the staff experience changed my mind. I didn’t feel welcome here. The receptionist, who introduced himself as “Safi” but was also called “Mohammed” by others, tried to overcharge me. I understand this is a budget accommodation, but while others paid 60 Dirhams, he asked me to pay 65 Dirhams. Additionally, I was approached by someone who followed me and claimed he had guided me, despite me using Google Maps and not asking for any help. The receptionist insisted I pay him, which felt unnecessary and a bit strange. When shown to my room, I requested a lower bunk, which was clearly empty. However, the receptionist claimed it was occupied. Even the next day, the bed remained empty, and other hostel guests confirmed it had never been taken. This was disappointing and made me feel uncomfortable. That being said, the location is great, the rooftop is nice, and the overall setup is decent. Just a word of advice—treat your guests with honesty and respect. It makes all the difference.

This was a remarkably cheap place to stay at, the cheapest in 7 different towns in Morocco. There is quick WiFi with a lot of sockets to charge, which is a rarity in Morocco. There is a rooftop area with fantastic views of the surround blue city, some of the nicest views I have ever had at any hostel. There is a tiny kitchen but you can order food as well. 1 issue is with the showers, there was mostly cold water even though I kept getting told there is hot water. The only shower that had hot water is the one right beside the small kitchen on 3rd floor so use that shower. I wish they fix that but only real issue and still excellent value for money.

I stayed here for 8 days. The location is perfect! A few steps and you'll find different restaurants around the plaza. They moved me to the terrace room for ladies only with single beds which was great! I felt comfortable during my stay. They have a kitchen that can be used for cooking (for free, other hostels ask guests to pay to use the kitchen). They also have a rooftop with nice view of the sunset. Price is cheap compared to other hostels around. I'd definitely stay there again when i go back to Chefchaouen. 🇵🇭

We can not recommend this hostel at all. We rented a private room which was located at the terrasse. What seemed to be a nice spot at first ended up being a nightmare. We could not sleep a single bit, since the other guests were staying up and smoking there until 5 in the morning. The sound of every chair moving seemed to be amplified in this room - and we used earplugs. The only window we had in this extremely small room was towards the terasse, where everybody was walking by. So we felt really uncomfortable leaving it open at night hence everybody could look inside or even just go inside and grab something. And since having some strange encounters with other guests on the terasse that day, we felt even more uncomfortable leaving it open (-- which ended up being a very smart thing to do since indeed this guy ended up being caught steeling from other guests!!!). Unfortunately even the fan in the room was as loud as a car driving by constantly. Other than that we also found stains and bugs all over the room and the bed and a constant blinking light in our room. Apart from that the shower didn't work properly. We were so happy to leave this hostel next morning. You will find another cheap hostel nearby, I promise, even if you can't find it on the internet just go to a different one and ask for the...

This old freak hotel is now as much a tourist trap as is the whole town of Chefchauen in 2018: just a tourist spot with Sushi bar in the centre for people who want to boast about their "moroccan experiences" while they are in reality staying in muslim copy of southern France.Local People are advised by the government to be friendly to tourists, since they consist now to the majority of former migrants to France and behave like that. . The whole old Medina hotel as well as the neighboring Hotel Mauritania are so loaded with surveillance cameras that a prison is nothing next to it. "Smoking prohibited" to please the French whie they are smoking their liungs out everywhere else in Moroco as never before..This is the Dinsneyland of Moroccoo for young poeple who play along "I am Bianca Jagger and this is my boyfriedn Keith Richards" in long hippie clothes the very clean way. A shame foran oldtimer like me who knew this...
