So disappointed in this hotel. We had chronic issues with the AC in our room. The first night they tried to fix it while we ate dinner but it took a long time. They gave us a fruit platter & covered the cost of dinner for the inconvenience. The next day they were supposed to fix it but it wasn't fixed when we got back from sightseeing. We had to wait to shower & use the restroom as people were coming in & out of our room trying to fix it. They eventually said they were going to move us to another room but we would have to wait until 6:30 to be moved as they had a late check out & needed to clean the room. Being tired, hot & sweaty we had no choice but to wait.
When we were moved to the other room there was a fruit platter & they expressed their apologies. I explained that we should be given some compensation on our room for all of the inconveniences, including having to pack our things to move rooms. I did not expect to pay zero but the amenities we paid for we did not get & it had impacted our stay. She stated that she would talk to the manager & get back to us but she did not.
The next morning at check-out we inquired as to what compensation had been decided & were told there would be none. They said that the first night they were completely booked & couldn't change our room & that they covered the cost of dinner. While I understand, that doesn't change the fact we didn't get the amenities we paid for. Also, we were flexible with them the first night for those very reasons. 2nd justification was that at the time of our initial booking with Expedia we received a 10% discount. The discount at the point of reservation has NOTHING to do with the matter. Regardless of our initial rate, it was still to include the stated amenities AND does not nullify how our stay was impacted.
So essentially the tone was that it wasn't their fault & the 10% discount at booking was enough compensation. It's appalling that a hotel would treat guests this way. If you have an issue at this property just know you will have to just deal with it by eating a fruit platter.
As if we weren't already angry by this point, we learned that the taxi we requested the night before wasn't arranged.
If you want to be treated like a guest who is spending money on their holiday, stay...
Read moreThis is one of the most beautiful hotel in the town of Chefchauoen. The location is a bit hard to get to, and it is better to grab a cab directly to the hotel if you are carrying luggage.
First of all, this hotel has one of the best views in the city. You overlook the entire city. You can see the various sights like the kasbah and the Spanish mosque from the hotel. The rooftop bar is also probably one of the best places in town to catch the sunset.
The hotel also boasts a wellness centre. There is an indoor swimming pool, a gym, a jacuzzi and massage rooms. I believe this is the only hotel in Chefchauoen that has this kind of amenities within the hotel. The indoor pool is kind of cold. Though installation of water heating might be hard, I hope they consider putting some heaters on the poolside.
The hotel is located at the top of the old medina, which is a relatively small enclave of the sprawl that the town is now. That means that it is not far from a lot of the tourist attractions like the waterfall, the Spanish mosque and the town square. The only bad thing is that in return for a spectacular view, returning to the hotel at the end of a town visit is quite the uphill cardio workout.
We also enjoyed that we were able to have our breakfast in the hotel room, overlooking the town and surrounded by the mountains. I'm surprised that they served scrambled eggs for breakfast. Something I've been missing in Morocco for a while.
Lastly, just want to shout out to the amazing service and welcoming staff in the hotel. The stay in the hotel was a real pleasure. I'm not sure whether I will want to visit Chefchauoen again, but I will certainly be thinking of this hotel...
Read moreUpdate - disputed with Agoda but the hotel is lying and saying that the staff mentioned the fees when showing us the spa facilities. Interesting because at checkout the guy even admitted they should have mentioned the fee, but they went back to Agoda and lied and said they did. Anyway just be careful of fees if you do choose to stay here…
Agree with the reviews below - don’t be fooled by the positive reviews. This is not a spa hotel, so avoid at all costs if that’s what you’re after. The pool is freezing and unusable, and when we asked if they could heat it up and their response was that it wasn’t possible and that it would cause electricity in the neighbourhood to go off?! Hidden costs made our stay even more frustrating. We were shown the gym, jacuzzi and sauna at check-in and later that evening we were told by staff we needed to book a slot but weren’t told at any point that the jacuzzi was at an extra cost. Only at checkout was a 450dr fee brought up for 1 hr jacuzzi. Even the receptionist admitted it should have been made clear during our stay. They said it was also written in the booking, but I have checked this and is not mentioned anywhere. The room had terrible soundproofing, with constant slamming doors, furniture being moved above us, and sound of construction in the hotel. Bathroom privacy was poor due to a large window between the bedroom and bathroom. The location is also worth noting—it’s on a steep hill, and whilst it was fine for us, it may be...
