As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I’ve had the privilege of staying at various Hilton properties around the world, but my recent stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Windhoek, Namibia truly stood out. While the hotel follows the familiar, high-quality standards of the Garden Inn line, what made this experience exceptional was the warmth and genuine hospitality of the staff.
From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with smiles and a level of attentiveness that made me feel genuinely welcome. The team was consistently professional, friendly, and eager to assist with any request. Whether it was a simple inquiry about local attractions or a personalized dining suggestion, their dedication to guest satisfaction was remarkable.
The food was another highlight of my stay. The breakfast selection was fresh, diverse, and delicious—perfectly prepared eggs, fresh fruits, and an array of local and international options to satisfy every palate. The restaurant staff ensured that meals were served promptly and with a smile, adding to the overall positive experience.
The cleanliness of the room was impeccable, with housekeeping maintaining a high standard throughout my stay. The room was comfortable, well-maintained, and provided all the amenities needed for both work and relaxation.
Lastly, I must mention the inviting atmosphere of the hotel’s common spaces. The lobby, restaurant, and lounge areas were designed with comfort in mind—modern yet cozy, creating a pleasant environment to unwind after a day of exploring Windhoek.
In sum, the Hilton Garden Inn Windhoek might be part of Hilton’s conventional Garden Inn line, but the warmth of the staff, the quality of the food, the pristine rooms, and the welcoming ambiance make it truly special. I look forward to returning and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Namibia’s...

For those who don’t know, Windhoek can easily reach 30°C — so air conditioning isn’t a luxury, it’s survival. Unless, of course, you’re staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, where the aircon seems designed to test your endurance and sense of humor.
Ours decided to perform random sound effects all night — somewhere between a bowling ball dropping and a construction site starting up. Subtle it was not. The only time it went quiet? When it was turned off. Perfect if you enjoy sleeping in a sauna.
Breakfast didn’t exactly redeem the experience. The toaster didn’t work, and the “cold meats” lived up to their name — frozen solid. Nothing says “good morning” like scraping your ham off a plate of ice.
We did report the aircon incident to reception — even played them our live recording of the noise. They didn’t seem surprised (which, honestly, says it all). We were told it would be “sorted.” Spoiler: it wasn’t.
That night, as soon as the aircon came on — strike one! The bowling tournament resumed. We called reception again, and the brilliant suggestion was to send someone over to check it… at night… while we were already in bed. Still, no offer to move rooms.
So, we chose the bush-tent option: sweating in silence, dreaming of what it must feel like to stay at a Hilton where you can actually sleep with an aircon.
Beautiful hotel, great location — but for the price and the Hilton name, you’d really expect something else.
Upon checkout after the second bowling alley night, we spoke to the people at reception and the manager who were going to give us a 15% refund — which, surprise surprise, we still haven’t received. But hey, at least they validated our parking ticket. Because nothing says Hilton-level service quite like helping you...
Read moreNo wifi, no air conditioning, no respect for guests. The manager is a woman with glasses, she at first treated me like I was a complete idiot unable to use my phone properly. I am a tech CEO, and she treated me like I am stupid. She made me wait in the lobby for 30 minutes while she took a personal call. The entire hotel had no Wifi, so I had to go next door to the Hilton to beg for WiFi. After sitting in the lobby of a hotel I am not a guest at for an hour, suddenly she blows by me to get help from the better more sophisticated hotel next door. I am her guest struggling to have wifi in another hotel - ahe blows by me without saying a word - and me and the Hilton staff looked at each other and shook their heads at her rudeness and ridiculously bad customer service. She then came back and told me later “it’s working now”. I missed my dinner with friends because of this, she had no sympathy offered me a crappy breakfast for no wifi, and also 4 different rooms with broken air conditioning. This is the absolute biggest joke of a hotel I have ever seen. The frontline people are great - and the manager a woman with glasses, is rude, tough, and will make it your fault. The management at this hotel are amazingly terrible. Broken AC in most of the rooms. This hotel will waste your time and money. The bellman is good. He helped me go through 4 rooms with no AC before finding one that was cool on a 97 degree day. It may look and feel like a bargain, it is just plain bad. The crappy spray painted (VIP) section is part of the joke that is the Hilton Garden in Windhoek. Oh and its unsafe to walk around near the hotel - gangs of drug addicted kids and men accost you on one side of the hotel. Hilton invests zero to combat it. Absolutely...
