I stayed at The Pagoda Guest House for the Biska Jatra in April this year. The Pagoda guest house is the closet accommodation to the central and largest Pagoda , the Siddhi Lakshmi , the temple is about twenty meters from the front door of the guest house! The hosts are Rabindra and Shamilla and they are very happy and friendly folk who will welcome you with great love and respect. I found myself right at the centre of the celebrations and day and night the bands ,played , folk danced and swayed and my accommodation was right there in the centre of it all! Shamilla and Rabindra are more than willing to explain the intricacies of the celebrations and the places that the festival plays out over the week of the living loving Hindu festival. This festival is not staged for tourists this is the local folk celebrating their own vibrant religious rituals for their own love and enjoyment. The Pagoda Guest house is comfortable and clean and the meals prepared by the hosts are genuine Nepali dishes as spicy and flavoursome as the festival itself. Advice of all kinds is readily given by the hosts and you might find that like myself you become friends rather than just guests. If you want to experience the authentic Bhakatapur vibrations , book your rooms here at the PGH , you...

Pagoda Guest House, looking directly out over the Nyatapola pagoda, is the perfect spot.
I paid 1,200 rps for a room that was spacious, with daily cleaning service.
While most guest house rooms in Bhaktapur have you looking out into an alley, Pagoda has windows out to the ancient pagodas on Nyatapola Square. With a rooftop restaurant and friendly staff, you can’t beat...
