All you see is a wall and a blue gate. Even after the gate opens and your taxi goes in, you may wonder whether you have made a mistake; just a drap looking building. Take heart, that's not the hotel. Walk a short distance, and lo! You are greeted by a beautiful courtyard garden with beautiful splashes of colourful peonies. After the drab entrance, you think you have discovered the mystical Shangri-la.||At the reception, you are greeted by a pleasant receptionist with a nice poster of the serene Buddha on the wall behind her.||Our room was on the ground floor with a nice big glass window/french door that opened out to the garden. The room itself was not spectacular but cosy enough with a fairly large bathroom; no long bath but a warm shower. There is a room safe for your valuables.||There is no telephone and no hair-dryer, but both are available upon request from the front desk. Had a terrible experience at this hotel - booked it as a first stop in Kathmandu on arrival in Nepal, place to put my luggage while trekking and a last night before flying out of the country.There is no provision for bag check - no tag given or the like. Asked if could leave / check my bag was told yes and to leave infront of front desk. Two weeks later when I returned to the hotel bag was still in the lobby infront of front desk. Things were missing of course - none of great enough value to argue, but the fact they couldn’t even be bothered to move the bag a few feet to a closet / holding space or the like is indicative of the way this place rolls.Tried to book a shuttle for early morning to airport through hotel, listed as included service. Despite confirming and reconfirming, they arranged nothing. Instead at 5:15 AM it became a game of let’s make a deal and see how much we can charge while providing no evidence there was even a driver. In the end I gave up and carted my luggage to the street to get a taxi.Nepal is a wonderful country - this hotel was a consistent bad experience. Rooms themselves are meh - didn’t try the free breakfast, on site restaurant was pretty good, atmosphere/ food.
