We had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel for a total of 6 nights, and we couldn't be more thrilled with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff displayed an authentic and warm hospitality that made us feel truly at home. Their genuine friendliness and willingness to assist with every request went above and beyond our expectations. One of the highlights of our stay was the remarkable cleanliness and tranquility of our room. It was evident that great care was taken to ensure a pristine environment, allowing us to relax and unwind in utmost comfort. The icing on the cake was the superb internet reception, which allowed us to stay connected seamlessly throughout our stay. Our stay was punctuated by delightful mornings indulging in an exquisite breakfast spread. The puri or chapati and curry quickly became our favorites, perfectly complemented by the aromatic masala tea and the flavorful masala omelette – a true culinary delight! The hotel's al fresco dining experience was an absolute treat. The ambiance was charming, and the food left an indelible mark on our taste buds. With each meal, we explored a plethora of different dishes, each more tantalizing than the last. It's safe to say that the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations in every way.A noteworthy mention is the hotel's convenient proximity to Boudha Stupa, a mere 10-minute walk away. This made our visits to the stupa incredibly convenient and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in its serene atmosphere. What sets this hotel apart is not only its remarkable amenities and services but also the unique opportunity it offers. The daily free yoga and meditation sessions held within the monastery on the premises are truly transformative. We highly recommend inquiring about the schedule from the attentive hotel staff – it's an experience that added immeasurable value to our stay.In summary, our time at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of attentive staff, immaculate rooms, delectable cuisine, and the added touch of free yoga and meditation sessions make this hotel a standout choice for anyone seeking a memorable stay near Boudha Stupa. We wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to fellow travelers looking for an unforgettable experience.Thank you to the entire staff for making our stay truly remarkable – we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to return!Tip: Indulge in delightful puri & curry breakfast, relish al fresco dining, rejuvenate with free daily yoga. A tranquil oasis near...

I did not stay in a room at this hotel but saw one or two rooms that friends were staying in, and the accommodations were comfortable and high-end. The restaurant is also worth a visit, even for non-guests; some dishes have earned the restaurant return visits from me or my friends. However nice the restaurant is (high ceilings, pool-adjacent and picturesque), the restaurant staff was not prepared for many tables of hungry diners, and the food was sometimes delayed too long (45 minutes to one hour). So do not expect a fully relaxed dining experience here, if the restaurant has many guests -- it does not, or did not, have an adequate kitchen staff for many (20+) diners. Also of note here is the well-staffed lobby and front desk, which will serve various coffees and pastries to anyone that asks. The lobby is 5-star quality and beautiful, perfect for business meetings or ad-hoc video interviews, for example. The outdoor dining area is also pleasant, with shaded areas in full-sun weather. The pool is available to paying customers for a fee. So you may schedule a birthday party with pool access, if you can afford the rather high per-person fees (about NR 600 as I recall). Lastly, the hotel also contains the facilities of a defunct Tibetan monastery. The temple is slightly maintained i.e. tormas are offered once in a while. If you want to sponsor a yoga class or ritual, the temple is available. The temple murals are exquisite, showing the lineage gurus and other deities of the Karma Kagyu tradition, making this disused temple more memorable than most functioning Gumbas in the area. It's sad that the monastery did not succeed and had to be converted into a hotel, but at least the new owners have maintained the temple and made it accessible to guests or...

A Peaceful and Inspiring Oasis in Kathmandu — Dolmaling Hotel near Boudhanath Stupa||Staying at Dolmaling Hotel was one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of my trip to Nepal. This wonderful hotel is located just a 3-minute walk from the sacred Boudhanath Stupa — the spiritual heart of Buddhist Kathmandu.||What makes Dolmaling truly unique is that it is home to an active Buddhist monastery, and not only travelers stay here — monks live on the premises as well, creating an atmosphere of peace, authenticity, and quiet inspiration. Guests can take part in meditation sessions in the temple, practice yoga, and enjoy healing sound baths — all in a setting that nurtures both body and soul.||The hotel is surrounded by greenery, and the outdoor swimming pool is a true delight, especially on warm days. It’s a perfect place to unwind and recharge after exploring the city.||The rooms are very comfortable, clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. In the hotel’s lobby, there is a stunning mandala, a unique piece of spiritual art that draws you in with its intricate beauty and calm presence.||The restaurant deserves a special mention — it offers a rich selection of Nepalese and international cuisine, with something to suit every taste, from vegetarian options and local specialties to well-prepared global dishes.||And of course, the staff were simply wonderful — kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You truly feel cared for here, in a very sincere and heartfelt way.||I will definitely return to Dolmaling — it’s the kind of place where you want to stay longer and where your soul finds rest. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking peace, depth, and inspiration in the heart...

Hotel Dolmaling is tucked away in Phulbari Marg and 5 mins walking distance to the Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu. I am so glad that I found this gem of a place because of its old world charm 😊 bumping into Sherpas at every turn with a mala (prayer bead) in their hands & the most heart melting smile. Predominantly the Sherpas live in this area and so you will feel a Positive Energy running through the entire area. You might find it a bit chaotic but there’s no RESTLESSNESS. There are lots of shops selling Sherpas dresses and other Tibetan stuff. It’s all so artsy. You can also find book cafes outside the hotel where you can just relax with a cuppa and a book. I would r highly recommend Hotel Dolmaling and I myself would return here again & again. The breakfast spread is very nice and they have a variety of different types of dishes in their ala carte menu. Good selection of wines and beers too. I spent a couple of afternoons basking in the sun sitting in the garden looking at the Gumba. Oh yes and lastly if you are into meditation and yoga this is THE place to come to. Inside the Gumba they held meditation sessions and yoga as well but one needs to book these two sessions a bit ahead of time.

Tucked away just a few steps from the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, this unique hotel—once a monastery—offers one of the most peaceful and soul-nourishing stays in Kathmandu. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an atmosphere of quiet reverence and timeless charm. The architecture has been lovingly preserved, with prayer wheels, antique wooden carvings, and vibrant Tibetan details woven into every corner. My room overlooked a small inner courtyard where monks once meditated—now a tranquil garden space perfect for morning tea or quiet moment. Staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, embodying the spirit of hospitality that feels deeply rooted in Buddhist culture. The rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the stupa, especially magical at sunrise or under the soft glow of butter lamps in the evening. Whether you’re on a spiritual journey or just looking for a peaceful escape, this former monastery turned boutique hotel is a true hidden gem. A rare blend of culture, comfort, and sacred history—I couldn’t recommend it more.

I had the pleasure of spending one night at Hotel Dolmaling, a beautiful heritage property with a noble purpose of supporting monks. The hotel offers a serene and welcoming atmosphere, with an outdoor swimming pool that is clean and well-maintained. Their restaurant serves delicious food, making dining here a delightful experience. One of the highlights of my stay was the yoga and meditation sessions held in their Shrine Hall, complimentary for in-house guests. This unique offering truly sets the hotel apart. Additionally, the property is just a 3-4 minute walk from the iconic Boudhanath Stupa, making it an ideal location for visitors. The hotel premises include a peaceful monastery (gumba), and their lobby features a stunning mandala, adding to the overall charm of the place. I highly recommend Hotel Dolmaling for anyone seeking a tranquil and culturally enriching stay. A must-visit!
