WARNING: BED BUGS!
This hotel is without a doubt the worst place I have ever stayed.
The rude member of staff at the front desk wouldn't let me check in initially and tried to make me pay for my prepaid stay again because the booking credit card didn't match my name. I sat in reception for half an hour before they let me check in.
The room was infested with bed bugs - I saw some in my bed (see photo) and saw others walking around my room's floor and walls. I also found fresh blood on my bedding after the first night.
Decor in the room was completely sub-standard and unsafe. My room had no curtain at all, the mattress was disgustingly stained (see photo), there were dangerous breaks in the room including the light switch which was smashed and the mirror which was '"repaired" with some foil tape. The shower leaked so much that most of the water ended up outside the shower tray, flooded the bathroom and then spread into the room. There wasn't even a hook to hang my towel on - I ended up having to hang it off the bathroom door handle. Don't expect any other "luxuries" like a wardrobe, hairdryer or ironing board!
Cleaning was inconsistent and to a low standard - different things were serviced in my room each day which shows that there was no standard to which they keep their rooms. One day I got bonus towels (probably to dry the flood up?), other days my bin was not emptied, there was hair left in my basin that was definitely not mine and the floor was covered in hair and dirt from the people who used the room before I did.
The hotel has a number of no smoking signs up but the halls and rooms stank of smoke - this is eminently obvious to any non-smokers.
There is something weird going on with this hotel and Hotel Di-Ann. They appear to be the same hotel - reception and entry to both hotels is via Hotel Di-Ann. I'm not sure what this is... some tax dodge or a way to try and dilute reviews on their shocking services? I guess it's not really a problem for anyone staying, but it is quite annoying to have to traipse through a different hotel just to get to yours.
I am not a fussy traveller and I don't need a lot of features from a hotel, but I do expect my room to be clean and functional. This hotel failed these requirements on literally every front. I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel. If you're on a low budget you'll do better off sharing a room in on of Amsterdam's hostels - which is exactly what I did after cutting my stay at La...

This hotel is really really bad. Absolutely filthy dirty and run down.
There is not even a reception in it, check in is done in a hotel next door - the Di-Ann hotel owned by the same people.
The photos online don't reflect the actual rooms. We were catfished. I stayed in room 201, a double balcony room - lots of hair still left in the room from previous guests, on the bed sheets and in the bathroom stuck all over the walls and door. The TV remote control was filthy i had to clean it with the face wipes I brought with me before touching it, then the tv didn't work and we had to wait until the next day for maintenance to fix it. My partner then woke up on the first night to a bug on his pillow and we were itchy after sleeping in the bed. We called in to ask reception if we could move to a different room, I explained about the dirty room which i had attempted to clean myself with a sweeping brush I found before the other issues had risen, and about the bug on the pillow and the balcony which was being used to throw cigarettes down onto from the room above, the TV which was cracked and held up on the wall by one screw also didn't have any channels tuned in. The guy on reception who was polite enough had to ask his boss if we could move rooms, his boss the owner then came out and refused to allow us to move to another room and asked us to prove it to him about the room. He was so ignorant and confrontational, no manners at all. We were paying guests at his hotel he should has treated us respectfully.
The only good thing about it is the location being in walking distance of central amsterdam, and one friendly staff member who was working when we checked in she's the Greek lady - you need to pay her more because i'm sure she ends up dealing with complaints all day working in an a place like that. The owner is terrible and I will never return to this hotel or recommend it to anyone. I don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews, nearly all of my reviews are positive unless they really are bad so I would advise anyone to re-consider if you were thinking about staying here. It should...
Read moresaw many bad reviews for this hotel and was very cautious about staying.
I was proven wrong, headed to door 27 in the street headed up the stairs, yes the stairs are steep but if you go in any other building in the area the stairs are the same.
if your mobility is impaired then do not book this hotel but if you are bodily abled then not a problem.
hotel was clean smelling and tidy. just after the stairs was the reception, everyone I met there was lovely and friendly.
our room was on the same level as reception so no more stairs, our room was a king size bed, with full wall of windows and doors leading out to our own private balcony that had table and chairs.
32" flat screen TV on the wall, okay the bracket was loose but as long as your not messing about with it then no issues, nothing a screw and a screwdriver wouldn't fix
bed was comfy and hotel provided two duvets as we wanted two singled but they didn't have that so we just settled for the king size.
in the room was table and chairs to set and chill and plug sockets was located close so you could lay in bed with your phone on charge.
bathroom was fine with an overhead shower head and a detachable shower head too.
the first night there our TV remote didn't work, reception was on the case straight away, showed us the TV controls on board and we thought nothing more of it, an hour or two passed and we got a knock on the door letting us know he had fixed the remote so we could use it the rest of the trip which was very nice.
location is just on the outside ring of the busy square which is great with plenty of shops in a couple minutes walking distance.
trams round outside till 11pm I belive but after the first night and we TV on I didn't even notice.
snacks and drinks available at reception smoking friendly,on the balcony only with the choice of smoking on our own private balcony or the community balcony located via reception.
overall very good hotel and staff, would recommend and would...
