With a friend, we wanted to have a Nutella and strawberry crepe, which cost €12.5, a relatively high price for a crepe made of flour and milk. We ordered, and received our coffee 10 minutes before our crepes, so we didn't get the pleasure of enjoying the coffee while eating the crepe. Then the crepe arrived, and it had almost no Nutella on it, with just two strawberries cut into eight pieces. It's very expensive for such little topping.
We were there during Amsterdam Pride, and this "restaurant" was charging €5 to use the bathroom, the highest price I’ve ever seen for that service. Many customers were shocked, and I felt like I was dining in a place solely focused on making money and ripping off tourists. Everything was cheap with high prices.
When it was time to pay, the waitress told us the card machine was broken. We told her that they should have informed us before we ordered, especially since the window still had stickers indicating all the payment options. We mentioned that we only had a card and that in the Netherlands, it's always very easy to pay by card. We asked to test the payment terminal. We went over, confident it would work and that they were just trying to get cash. We paid on the first attempt. They are thieves.
The food wasn't very good, and the atmosphere, where the only goal seemed to be making money rather than providing a service, left a bad impression. I also sensed racism when she told me (since I am a French speaker) that we weren't in Paris or Brussels and that this was how things were done in Amsterdam. I disagree because Amsterdam has many great places with quality products and generous staff. This place was the complete opposite, and I am outraged and would not...
Read moreMy partner and I can't write an honest review about the food as we didn't even choose our opportunity to order any food once the very rude waitress attended our table this morning. We walked in to enjoy a cold drink and a light snack and chose to sit at the last table down the back of the seating area. As we were about to take our seat we were approached by a very abrupt and rude waitress advising us that "that seat is not for customers!" and proceeded to wave her hand toward the tables down the front. At first we didnt think much - it did take us a little by surprise however. We sat down at a table at the front and we were eventually approached again by the same lady asking us what we'd like to order. She stared at me for a solid 3 seconds immediately after offering to take our order before my partner asked politely for 2 drinks. She got noticeably mad after we ordered the drinks so we just said not to worry about it, and walked out. As we were walking out, the waitress stood there complaining to a group of customers inside of the restaruant about us as they were even confused about her reaction. Honestly just a disgusting experience and she does not deserve a job here in Amsterdam. Thankfully the only bad/rude experience we have had in Amsterdam....
Read moreThe food is alright. I had dinner with a friend and We ordered a Hungarian pancake, a Dutch sweet pancake and Dutch pea soup. Not the best pancakes in town but it's satisfactory.
Regarding the service , I must say it is very poor. There are two staff working as waitress and as a cook. After we told them politely that we are ready to order, a girl just replied to us rudely that she will come in a minute. We asked for an extra bowl to share the soup but they rudely declined it by saying that they don't provide this service and asked us to order an additional bowl of soup. We then decided to order an additional bowl and after a while they told us they don't have Dutch pea soup anymore. My friend forgot to close the door when she went in the restaurant and the staff pointing at her and 'ordered' her to close the door, as if she had committed a sin. This is just ridiculous.
This is the worst restaurant that I visited in my 2- week Europe trip. The services in other restaurants in Amsterdam are superb. Am so surprised that this restaurant can still have business with such a poor service and average food but pricey. Our meal costs us euro 40+ for 2 ppl. I wish I read the comments here before going and I definitely do NOT recommend...
