Went there last night with a few friends on my last night in town. Got there late, 12:40am, because we had a work convention and was attending other events. Just wanted a drink at possibly the oldest bar in Amsterdam. Was one other person in the bar, who had a full beer, so he want going anywhere fast. Bartender would not serve us, said it was too late. I questioned him on the time, the fact that we had just walked 20 minutes to get there and we just wanted 2 small drafts to say we had a drink at the bar. His reply was "I have been open all day, you could have come in at anytime, but you waited until now, we are closed". He actually was mad at us because we walked in wanting to order a drink. I assume this is not the owner as he was the rudest bartender I have ever come across. We got there 20 minutes before close, he could have easily ended our trip on a high note, but decided to be a complete jerk. Very unfortunate, as what I saw in my brief time there was a really cool...

Personeel is vaak aardig.

This place is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of the Netherlands. They have a huge selection of the Dutch national liquor (genever), but the real draw is the ambience of the place. It had been operating since the 17th century, and the interior shows it. Walking in is like stepping back in time to a bygone Amsterdam of the golden age. Wynand Fockink is historic as well, but this place is the real deal and way less crowded/touristy; nobody should miss it on their trip...

This is a little gem in Amsterdam. Cafe De Druif is what the Dutchies will call 'een bruine kroeg' known for its 'gezelligheid' aka cozyness. I was happily surprised that the guests were youngsters, from the neighborhood but also tourists. A very nice blend of happy people enjoying the genever, beers or a good glass of wine. If the sun is shining, this cafe has a large terrace outside. Enjoy!

I love this bar! Dark, rich wooden furnishings, sparkling gas chandeliers and antique barrels lining the walls, giving the customers a peek into De Druif’s long history as a bar and distillery. Very friendly staff who can pour the best pint in Amsterdam! Great terrace outside. Amazing central location without the crowds. A true find!

I love it. The staff and people there are very nice atmosphere is very easy, it's a old coffee and small Amsterdam building with a lot of it's charm. A place to sit and enjoy your drink while talking very chill with friends. It's a perfect hoek in the area, very calm and gezellig. Mostly you'll be likely to find locals.
