Loetje Den Haag Centrum — Restaurant in The Hague

I'm sorry to say but this was a very bad experience.

TLDR: I really do not recommend this place if you plan on enjoying a good steak.

About the food: The "medium rare tenderloin" was clearly well done (it's past well done, it's now "I'm proud of you") and the "gravy" was just a pool of burnt butter (see picture). The result was a very fatty (not in a pleasant way) piece of chewy steak with no real sauce.

The fries were the pre-fried type dripping frying oil.

The "dipping bread" to "enjoy" with the "sauce" was the cheapest toastie white bread you can find in the super market (see picture).

About the service: We were sat at a table in front of the bathroom next to the stairs that lead to outdoors. When we asked to be sat in another table, it was refused as the restaurant was "full", but with plenty of empty tables around.

Loetje is a well-known steakrestaurant chain in The Netherlands. Like its sister stores, Loetje in Den Haag Centrum does not disappoint. The meat is of really good quality and prepared with care, resulting in a delicous high quality dish.

The menu offers quite some choices with some seasonal dishes available as well. You can choose between 3 sizes for your steak, 125gr, 195gr and 300 grams of meat.

There are side dishes available and an extensive drink menu.

The restaurant was fully booked on Monday 30th of December, people with reservation were turned away. I highly recommend a reservation in advance. We were with a group of 13 and were still served relatively fast.

I actually like Loetje and have been to other branches but the location in Den Haag is a disappointment. First of all, the service is very poor. The restaurant was full but there was only 2 waitresses working. So of course not enough for a smooth service. We had to wait for renewing the drinks and when there was a mistake in our order for example. And the huge disappointment was actually when we saw a MOUSE walking around in the restaurant and when we mentioned to the waitress they seemed quite indifferent. Come on guys it’s not a MICKEY MOUSE it is an actual MOUSE. So I wonder how they treat their kitchen. I would never go to this...
