Rollers Bakery — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

My partner and I decided to give Rollers a go today, just after 12pm on Saturday. Quite a busy time, despite that, this bakery still had a lot of items.

All we brought from there was a Steak & Cheese and a Bacon & Egg pie, fair price for this day and age.

Thoughts are, If you're looking for a solid classic Steak and Cheese pie, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a dfferent/New experience on a steak and cheese pie this is for you, it has a very...different taste. Not good or bad just not up my alley. Hence why I didn't enjoy it at all. And I smash back steak and cheese pies any day.

Now, if you're looking for a Classic bacon and egg pie with the usual suspects (Bacon, Egg, cheese) this also isn't for you it's a..different approach to a bacon and egg pie if you love tomato relish & spinach this is all you.

Overall experience of service was a little lacking. I will be fair due to the time frame we went as it was very busy & I can understand having one person busy up front and a lot of customers and having the need to rush people out, doesn't leave much time to browse as I would have gotten something else if I wasn't made to feel rushed.

Will we visit again? Not very likely, however the sweet treats section...

Hidden in our local area is the jewel of Northcote!

We had a aloo vegetarian pie, potato top pie, two incredible cream donuts oozing with fresh cream and homemade jam washed down with mint hot chocolate! And not mint as in superb, mint as in flavour!

OMG…. You need to come here!

Worth every cent.

They bake on the premises in the background. So everything is FRESH ❤️

We drop in here every so often. We live locally and highly recommend Rollers.

And the bread! Don’t get me started! The loaves are better than any supermarket baked artisan bread!

I see now why they call it Rollers, because my order was a bit of a rollercoaster.

The service was very friendly.

I had a mince and cheese pie. It was very good. Excellent pastry, and the mince flavour was very nice. Reasonable amount of cheese.

But then I had a jam donut. Holly heck, they amount of jam was way overboard. I felt sick after eating it, and I scooped some of the jam out. The amount of cream was right, but just far too much jam.

I'd rate the jam donut 1/5 stars.

Also, the drinks didn't have prices listed, always a bugbear of mine.

I'd come back for another pie, but I'll never have the...
