We booked a 2-bedroom apartment from booking.com , but upon arrival, we were informed that our room was in a different location, 3 streets away from the original address, with no prior notice! 🚨Total we paid AUD 2309 for 4 nights. At the new apartment, we faced multiple issues: • Both bedroom heaters were not working due to a tripped circuit – and it was -6°C outside! ❄️ • The shower drain was completely blocked, leaving water stagnant. • The towels were not clean, and we even found a blood stain on one of them – absolutely unacceptable! 🤢 Despite sending someone to “fix” the issues, the bathroom drain remained blocked. We had to use our hands to pull out all the disgusting waste clogging the drain ourselves. The heaters were still not warm enough, making the stay extremely uncomfortable. When we complained to the management, they only offered to send maintenance but refused to change our room. When I requested a replacement, the manager only offered a downgrade to a 3-star apartment instead of the 4-star we booked( from booking.com) . Read moreWe stayed at Enter Viking Hotel from 17th to 24th October 2025, and it was a very disappointing experience. The room was small, the bathroom was not properly cleaned, and there was constant noise from upstairs. The kitchen utensils were scratched and worn out, far from what you would expect for the price charged.
After checkout, I was shocked to find a 3000 NOK charge deducted from my card — without any prior notice, explanation, or receipt. The hotel never informed me about this deduction. When I contacted them by email multiple times for clarification, they did not respond to any of my messages.
Later, they claimed the amount was for “damages” — but the photos they sent clearly show that nothing was broken. The items mentioned were intact and exactly as they were when we checked in. Despite this, there has been no refund or proper explanation.
This behavior is unethical and completely lacks transparency. I strongly advise future guests not to provide their card details directly to the hotel and to inspect and photograph everything in the room when checking in and out.

Read moreVery disappointing hotel. It is extremely expensive for what it is. Albeit all Tromso hotels are expensive... The photos are not at all accurate or reflective of the state of the hotel, or the quality of the fixtures and fittings. It was honestly what I would expect from a 2 star hotel.
The positive was we only needed a bed for the night as we got in at midnight and left at 8am. The bed was at least reasonably comfortable for that purpose. But at almost 400AUD, the room was pretty unpleasant. The flimsy curtain didn't block the outside light. Flimsy towels, and a one pump dispenser in the bathroom for handwashing, shampoo, etc. The hallway and stairwell were very worn, dirty and uninviting. With no breakfast included or even tea and coffee making in the room. It was a hard pill to swallow. They do have tea and coffee in reception for self-service. The advertised free waffles were a no show. As was the lift! Broken apparently.
The woman on reception was very pleasant and friendly. She had a few pretty unhappy guests to deal with. So, an extra star for her resilience. Not at all the Scandinavian experience we are...
