This place is popular from reviews, but the food is not great. It’s mediocre at best. Here you are paying for the great atmosphere, which I will admit is beautiful. The reason for my 2 stars and not 1.
If you are a tourist looking for great tasting food, I would recommend a lot of other places for the price you pay here. I have tried this place 3 times and unfortunately my opinion hasn’t changed but has gotten worse.
The 2 of us spent S/150+ here for dinner. We had the focaccia bread, Fettuccine Alfredo with steak, and the lasagna. Very classic and simple Italian dishes. The focaccia was soaking in oil, not the typical amount oil you normally find in this style of bread. The Alfredo was okay and the steak was good except for the fact we had to be sent back 3 times since is was basically raw, only for the final time sending it back they cooked it beyond well done. The lasagna tasted like it was seasoned with water as it had no flavor.
The best tasting thing here was the Kola Escocesa that came out of a bottle.
We thought it might have been a mistake so we brought the issues and concerns to the server. They said it’s not their problem if the food isn’t good and we are paying for everything even though 2 of the dishes weren’t even touched. After, we waited 45mins for a check and had to go ask. If they were willing to work with us, I would given a kinder review. However, some places deserve the review they get.

Read moreWe arrived to Mumis without reservation and were immediately, and warmly welcomed as family. We were seated in a comfortable area where soft laughter and friendly conversation serenaded us and melted into the backdrop. Our server, Catalina greeted us with a smile reserved usually for welcoming family at the holiday...she was spectacularly friendly! Her presence only fueled our appetite for a custom home made meal meant to accommodate my particular requests. My husband had a four cheese pizza that was fresh, steaming hot, bursting with flavor, and fully satisfying his robust hunger. All of the Italian cornerstone flavors and fruits of the field were represented. We had a burrata cheese plate to start, which was served warm which was not familiar to us; but whose tangy cheese melted our hearts. There was not much conversation to be had, as we both focused on our surrounding, our attentive/gracious server, and playback of our experiences of the day in Arequipa. At the end of the meal, the owner/chef came out to especially greet us with a dessert to go, to thank us for our reciprocal friendliness. What a truly special and lovely server Catalina was. A uniquely warm meal with the finest and freshest Italian ingredients! A welcome facility as close to a home, family setting as one can picture. When we return to Peru - MUMIS is a destination we shall be sure to include...
Read morePretty restaurant with a nice atmosphere, but rude waitress and food average.
the food looked good on pictures so we have it a try de sprite few recent comments complaining about the bad service. The waitress looked up in the air at first, then she « threw » the menus at me and ignored my boyfriend. , she did not even say a word. When she came to serve the plate she showed the table with her chin and said « cutlery » in a rude way for us to remove it. That is actually the only word she said during the entire evening. We asked for the checked, she came back with the card machine and took the card in our hand to process it without showing us the amount. The food was good but for me a very very salty sauce and for my boyfriend a dish with a lack of taste. We read similar comments afterward.
the place could be so much better with a real service with people who actually enjoy their job. Worst experience we had seen in Peru during our month of travel.
For almost the same price go to Zig Zag, the food is amazing and the service...
