We stayed here, as many in Cusco, on the way to Machu Picchu. I got a good deal with this place and paid a good rate, but there were some trade offs for the low price, though it was a good stay overall. If I paid more, I probably would give it only a rating of 3, but for the price it was a good deal.||||Reservation: I booked online through Agoda. I emailed a copy of the voucher a week ahead to ensure the details matched their records. They promptly replied it was fine.||||Check-in: Upon arriving, I found I had lost my voucher. They let me use their computer to email a copy from my email account. No trauma, no drama. Check in was friendly and efficient. We got an early flight in from Lima, so we were allowed to check in very early (10 AM), which was nice and gracious of them (they also let us check out a little late on departure date). Some hotels wouldn't do that for any guest.||||Room: Pluses: the bathroom is beautifully tiled. The room is decent size and clean. The downside: it could use new carpet (or replace with hardwood flooring) and is about ready for a new coat of paint. It was otherwise comfortable...mattress, etc. I would say the one thing I would recommend is to not get rooms on the floor above the breakfast area. Our rooms were just off the back stairs, which would act like a tunnel for any conversations in the breakfast area. The staff starting at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning would work there to set up breakfast and the sound echoed right to my door. A room over the street would be quieter as there is not enough traffic to make it too noisy.||||Location: not on the Plaza de Armas and most cab drivers have not heard of the hotel. Bring the address with you. We were there during Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, and so we saw how crowded and noisy the Plaza de Armas could get. The hotel is close enough to get there easily, but far enough away to not be part of the noise, crowds or heavy traffic. Nearby are several large artisian shopping places with good prices. Up the street was a coffee/pastry house that my group loved, but I forget the name...towards the Plaza de Armas just past the Scotia Bank and cell tower. Great for a lunch or afternoon break (great wifi there).||||Other amenities: Breakfast was better than some that serve only bread. This had self serve coffee, fruit and meats. The very nice waiter (I think Memo was his name, not sure, but a very nice young man) would get egg orders which could include meat and/or cheese. There was only one waiter, but since the rest was self serve, he was able to handle the tables with no problem.||||We had no wifi in the hotel, though there was a PC with internet. We made up for it by going to other coffee shops or restaurants with wifi access to stay in touch with home. ||||After breakfast, the staff cleaned the entire lobby and restaurant. The area is always clean and presentable and they were very detailed in cleaning.||||The staff was very helpful in helping us arrange a taxi to the train station and airport. In fact, they saved us from getting to the train station too late. The front desk people were always helpful and courteous. They all have different levels of English, and seem to be studying it, so they try very hard to assist. I speak Spanish, so I never had a barrier due to language but the other two in my group did not, and one way or another they were able to communicate. ||||Overall: this hotel is best for someone who needs a place to sleep and shower, but will be gone more than in the room. We were happy with it, but would have liked wifi. If you are looking for a place to stay and save money for other things, this will do it. If they upgrade the carpet and paint, they will probably be able to charge more money. It would be great if the breakfast area could be a bar or restaurant in the late afternoon or evening. It is a nice area and could be used to generate more money and give guests a place to relax and have conversations. Everyone from the front desk to restaurant to housekeeping was very pleasant and always...
Read moreWe arrived in Cusco train station from Puno we traveled on the Andrea Explorer which was amazing, it was dark so we got a taxi to the hotel when it was light we realized if we had turned right out of train station and walked 5 min up the road we would have reached the hotel. The staff are great the rooms were tired looking and were cold they did put radiators in our rooms tho.Breakfast is nice.Location is good, supermarket across road, ATM a bit further up on left when you cross over the road at the cross roads.Lovely cheap pizza chicken restaurant opposite side of road. Cusco was lovely very busy, big indoor market near train station were we bought lots of goodies to bring back.We went on the open air bus to see more of Cusco which was good. We stayed for two night before we moved on to see Machupicchu but luckily we had booked one night on our return so we left our big back packs and just took enough for our one night stay in Machupicchu. On our return we felt like part of the family they made us very welcome and booked our taxi to the airport...
Read moreWe ended up staying here after a reservation fell through at a different hotel. The hotel looks good from the lobby. Once you go to your room you get a different story. The halls are very dark, as many bulbs seem to be burnt out. My room was filthy. The carpets had stains and clumps of hair stuck in them. The walls were scuffed, and the bathtub, well it looked gross. The shower curtain also only came to the top of the tub, so after a shower you could take a bath in the amount of water on the floor. We were leaving early one morning and were promised breakfast would be ready for us at 4:30. When we came down for breakfast, the guy at the desk had no idea, but quickly brought us some bread, jam, and coffee. Wifi was spotty, and cuts out frequently in the rooms. The room I was in was quiet most nights, as it seemed no one was there. It was also nice and dark for sleeping, only problem being, the hallway was also dark, which resulted in me falling down a few stairs that were just outside my door. Not safe at all. I wouldn't...
