To start off, the people were very nice at first typical peruvian service, the room was nice for what it was of course. To be honest the room was just a place for sleeping no complaints. BUT, after a trip in machu picchu, our phones were dead and were told there was a misunderstanding with the amount of nights booked which were 3 instead of 4 and were told by our tour guide to quickly pack our things to relocate to a new hotel. this was unfortunate but no problem at all because it was local and just for the night. My big problem was after telling our tour guides that our phones were close to dying and to ADVISE the hotel staff that we will be arriving late to be able to gather our things and make sure we have everything quickly gathered to be able to relocate, we were told that there was no problem that the next people coming in werent coming until later that night and that they would not touch our things. Here we are enjoying our trip, 5 hour way back exhausted. When we arrive... lord when i tell you. anyways, we were told that they had gone in there and taken everything out and put all of our stuff in bags waiting downstairs because the next people came. EXCUSE ME?!?! When has it EVER been okay to go in a occupied room and take a persons belongings out?? passports, money, jewelry, ashes, COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. one thing is not be told to please not touch but my tour guide made it very clear to not touch our things and they blatantly did not respect. this is lawsuit worthy but since it was my last day i decided to let it slide but this was absolutely unacceptable i had to beg them to let me recheck the room while the poor people watched me tear up the room. the staff didnt even want to let me told me "you cant do that" luckily the lady staying in the room let me check anyways because she understood the problem and even thought it was extremely wrong doing. since i am not taking this further writing this review is my only way of coping. i advise to not come to this hotel if you want to feel respected. forgot to mention my souvenirs (shot glasses) ended up completely...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting Cusco and the sacred valley and it met all our needs perfectly and at an unbeatable price. The location is very central, the Plaza de Armas can be reached in a few minutes easy walk yet it's not near a busy street or junction so traffic noise isn't a problem. Our room was big with a double bed and a single, tv, heater, wardrobe....nothing fancy but functional and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the water for the shower was hot and fast flowing, often a problem in budget hotels. Breakfast was ample enough to start the day, fruits followed by eggs or cheese with bread, fresh juice, coffee, jam etc etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I would certainly stay here again and...
Read moreMy wife and I called at the Wasichay's restaurant on May 2nd for a meal after a long coach trip from Puno. The food (grilled beef anticuchos) was cold and unappetising, and we would have sent it back were we not so tired. Service was lousy - we even had to get our own cutlery ! Finally, we ordered a bottle of Casillero del Diablo cabernet sauvignon to drink with the meal, but waitress delivered a sweet red wine instead. We naturally sent it back and asked them to give us what we had ordered. Incredibly, the cheating sods POURED THE SWEET RED INTO AN EMPTY CASILLERO BOTTLE AND SENT IT BACK TO US !! We naturally gave the cheats short shrift. In summary - LOUSY food, LOUSY service, LOUSY...
