I usually tend to trust review and when I saw that this place had 4.5 I thought it was going to be a great pizzeria.
Well I must say I wasn't to happy with my experience there, and let me tell you why. First, it's way too expensive for Cusco. To give you a rough idea, the pizza "personal" which is the small size is 35 soles. But it's literally 10 cm wide! Extra tiny in my opinion. The calzone is big enough but it's 45 soles. Second, we would argue about the quality of the ingredients. The olives on my pizza were way to salty and the dough of the pizza was too floury. The couple besides us got a Hawaiian pizza for 2 and didn't eat any of the pineapple. For the calzone, the sausage in it were of what it seemed to be bad quality. The dough was also very average. Maybe It's a matter of taste. 3rd, 3 of the 4 families and couples there with us faced some issue with the bill in the end. Every times they payed by cash (they don't take card), and everytime the waitress either didn't have enough change or didn't count properly the bill and they had to argue with her. Every time it was her fault and the clients had to explain to her what was given to her and what was the change they should have back. It almost felt a bit like a scam to be honest as for 2 of the families we heard that she was asking for more than what they should give. When it was our time to pay (86 soles), we gave 90 soles but the waitress also told us she didn't have the change (only 4 soles back was necessary)... She had to go get it outside, she came back with our change though. It seemed like a big hassle for her to give us our change (normally we would have given such an amount as a tip but not when the restaurant seems to not give the choice).
On the other hand there are 2 things we liked : they gave 2 dips with the pizza the place itself is cute as the oven for the pizza is literally in the room with the client and you can see the man make the pizza. He was very pleasant...
Read moreTeeny-tiny pizza restaurant with a grand total of three (shared) tables. The pizza is really good, Roman style (thin dough and with a thing crunchy crust) with a good amount of toppings. The largest size pizza easily feeds two hungry adults. In the cold winter nights the fact that you sit so close to the brick wood fired pizza oven is a huge plus as the whole interior becomes cozy and warm. You can see your pizza being prepared and cooked right in front of your eyes and service is quick even when the place is full (because it still means about 10-15 people in total). Besides pizza, the restaurant also offers Lasagna, but we haven't tried it and thus can not comment on it. Beverage choice is also limited, but a local ice cold beer goes really well with a pizza. Prices are honest, especially considering the very central location. (Cusco is a tourist town, so in general more expensive than many other in...
Read moreGreat pizza from a wood fired oven. I recommend "the Cusqueno" for meat eaters. It's a cozy little place, very comfortable, clean, and efficient. We went a little early and had to sit around while the oven was warmed up, and I really appreciated that they took the time to wait, rather than trying to rush a pizza order with a cool oven. The dough is rolled and pressed, and your pizza prepared right before your eyes. Which is kind of necessary given the size of the place
In our two visits, we saw four or five couples or groups poke their heads in and change their minds. Fools. Every one of them.
They also...
