We came here 2x times. Good things: delicious food: lomo saltado, llama loin and quinoa risotto. Unfortunately, pork was dry and not good consistency in drinks and food between different days cozy vibe Shortcomings: First time we contacted the restaurant to book a table, to which they replied that they don’t have available spots for the needed time (which was right away). We decided to give it a try by doing a walk in. The restaurant was 80% empty, with table of course available and table remaining unoccupied for the rest of the evening. On the same evening, there was abundance of staff that just stood and were horsing around, at the same time the bar table was covered with dirty glasses for a long time. This shows need for management and training and oversight to make sure staff do what they are supposed to do. on the same evening, while restaurant predominately empty, 3 staff available behind the bar alone, we waited long time for the drinks (20+ min), and food ~60 min small thing none the less, I wasn’t asked how I would like my meat to be cooked for lomo saltado (learned the next day that it can be cooked to preference) one of the seating areas is very cold, waiter brought out a heater but never switched it on despite us telling (among other guests) that it is very cold, so we had to dine it outdoor jackets inside the restaurant and still be cold another small thing, asked for salt and pepper, waiter never brought it to us All do these are service issues that can be...
Read moreMust come and visit! If you are in Cusco, you must stop by and visit this restaurant! It is no wonder that they are ranked at 4.9, it’s incredible place and easily one of the best food experiences you’d have anywhere globally! Amazing gem of Peruvian craft food! It’s art as much as it’s extremely tasty without breaking the bank.
I did order Guinea Pig dish, since it’s traditional Peruvian specialty and I’ve never tried it before … you know how they say “When in Rome…” I really liked the taste and texture, yes, it’s a bit unusual, but it’s worth the try. If you ever had any game meat, taste of rabbit or pheasant might be close, but with the nice crunchy crust.
We were a group of 8 of us, so we’ve got to try everything from the menu! Beef tender loin or Alpaca loin were absolutely amazing. So for some of us who wanted to try any of these other dishes which other people ordered, we had a second try, we came back second time after our visit to Machu Picchu! That’s the compliment for the food on its own.
Regarding desserts, that’s another art on its own. We ordered all the items on the menu, this is not the time for you to skip on desserts!
In any case, someone told me that in the top 10 restaurants in the world you would find 2 or 3 in Peru. I don’t know if this one is one of them, but it comes...
Read moreIt's a small hidden place near the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Being one of the most recognized places in town, you need to call in advance to make a reservation. I arrived whitout reservation thinking that it will be easy to be seated being a party of one but I was asked to return at 3pm to be seated. Having said that the save feels traditional and contemporary at the same time, tables are set up in a way that even with the restaurant packed you don't feel invaded in your personal space. Food wise, I ordered the cream of the day and the Cuy. Not only were both dishes delicious but the presentation was exquisite. I was told that cuy is a dish you should eat by using your hands. Eating cuy feels very similar to eating chicken wings when it comes to the amount of meat. Flavor wise the way they season the Cuy makes it a delicacy! I also ordered a couple of pisco sours (lime and maracuyá) both top level! Also ordered a red lemonade ( I don't remember all the ingredients) it was sweet and refreshing. At the end of the evening they gave me a small maracuyá cheesecake and a muña tea both on the house. I couldn't have a better end for such a fantastic meal. For all that I spent a little...
