Although the hotel is conveniently located in the city center and offers a traditional, charming atmosphere and rooms, basic services such as toiletries should be available, for a Novotel brand standards. In a city like Cusco, where everyone is traveling for tourism and light due to the limited baggage allowed on the train to Machu Picchu, it only makes sense to offer toothbrushes, razors, cotton, etc., at least on request at the desk, especially for a 4-star hotel. When I asked at the desk, they said I needed to buy it at the store outside. So, where am I staying—in a 200+ euro per night 4-star hotel or a campsite? Basic necessities should be provided. It’s nice having a fancy restaurant, room service and a spa, but if you can’t even provide toiletries in room or on request at the desk, that’s not acceptable. Even lesser-classified hotels provide them. Also, due to the proximity to the street, everyone is honking, so please insulate the windows more. The WiFi performance is lacking. No ketchup / mayo, no salt and pepper with room service for burgers and fries. And we asked for no fries but instead replace with salad, they said okay but then deliver plates with fries and an extra salad, which was an extra charge. No water added to the room service order ? I understand that’s extra charge but am I just supposed to choke on my dry beef patty? Some improvements on the service side. But then they ask you for tips on the room service delivery when it’s not done correctly, well…

We booked this hotel for 6 nights for the Cusco leg of our Peruvian trip. The hotel is in the middle of the Cusco tourist area and is surrounded by museums, historical sites and restaurants, all within walking distance. Breakfast was included with the room and includes a variety of cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt (plain, peach, strawberry), milk (cow, soya), jams, eggs (scrambled, hard boiled), sausage, bacon, fruits (orange, apricot, prune, papaya, passion fruit, melon, pineapple), juices (orange, beet, watermelon), pastries, veggies (tomato, cucumber), mixed and quinoa salad, almonds, raisins, chia seeds, sesame seeds, cereals (corn, muesli), soup (chicken, ramen, etc - different each day), bread (plain, whole wheat, grain, buns), croissant, coffee, and tea. We didn't try the restaurant but ordered room service a couple of times (chicken soup, pizza) and the food was ok. The rooms are spacious but very basic but it had a view of the mountain. Our room was in the back addition of the hotel so I'm assuming the rooms in the original building are nicer but more expensive. There was a safe and minibar in the room. The service is on and off, depending on the staff. Some staff are very nice and go out of their way to help, others will not even look at you when passing by.

I enjoyed my stay at the Novotel Cusco. As with many people here, I was based at the hotel before and after my Inca Trail trek. I must say that the service at check-in was excellent. The first room I had was on the first floor, which is a bit of a basement level... since I was going to be staying here three nights, I asked if they could put me in a room with a bit more light. The staff was super-helpful in showing me another room and helping me move my luggage. Top marks. The rooms are pretty standard 'corporate' type layouts, but they are clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was not the best I have ever had, but it was serviceable. The atrium lobby (enclosed) was a nice place to relax and chat with friends. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Cusco's main squares and several excellent restaurants. There is a nice Spa attached. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Cusco.

Most Cusco hotels are overpriced for what they offer. So we decided to only consider Accor properties as I was Platinum back then. The hope was to get an elevated experience due to our status. Little did we know that it would count for nothing. In fact, this was the only Accor branded property. As we were celebrating anniversary I tried to get in touch with the hotel. On emailing both nely.quispe@accor.com and glenny.torre@accor.com (the latter suggested by Pullman Lima Miraflores) I couldn't elicit a reply. They simply didn't care.||||We had booked for a room with a standard double bed and a sofa bed. We reached the hotel a bit early (at 1:30 PM) compared to their check-in time. It was Jimena then at the reception. Without an iota of smile or utterance of any welcome she took our passports and announced that our room is ready for an "early check-in". When I asked if we got an upgrade, she acted not to have heard me. We soon figured out that this was a "downgrade" as our room neither had the sofa bed nor any views. When asked for a slightly late check-out, she said it can't be confirmed. When asked if we get breakfast she answered in the negative. Now I had to say a bit louder about my Platinum status. Suddenly, a late check-out was given as was complimentary breakfast for two.||||After this not so platinum experience, we proceeded toward our room which was in the new wing. It was a rather small loft room. The bed took up almost all the space, which was only semi-comfortable. There were two small racks jutting out on both sides which barely fitted a landline phone. The wardrobe was open with a few drawers. The TV was of the vintage type that we never dared to switch on. The cramped bathroom had a very noisy fan. There were hardly any amenities, for example, they didn't have disposable toothbrush or shower gel. There was no coffee machine either but just a kettle. A minibar was located below this. A rather small writing desk barely fitted the space next to the minibar. There was no window in the room. Rather there was a door leading to a small terrace like space and the only thing visible from here apart from the sky and some mountain parts was the JW Marriott next door! In fact, I had a stronger Wifi signal from JWM than Novotel. This was by far the worst room we had stayed in a long time as an Accor Platinum. Just two 250ml still water bottles were complimentary and the next day when we were at Machu Picchu they conveniently forgot to replace fresh bottles. There was no welcome amenity in the room and of course they didn't know that we were celebrating something.||||On the day of our trip they packed a reasonable breakfast. The actual breakfast was pathetic. It would have been perhaps better if we didn't have free access to it. Both of us ordered the same omelette with sausage. This was prepared at the same time, cut unevenly (and so one of us got a bigger portion), then randomly folded and served. Nothing else in the spread was worth eating although we tried our best. It was full of people part of big tour groups.||||The best bit of the property was the grand lobby area which was of course from a different era. They also had this water refill counter that was nice to have. Unexpectedly at check-out, Alex was a gem of a person considering the other hotel staff. He even gave us physical drink coupons since those were not showing up in the app and we didn't have the time to use them during our stay. It was a different matter altogether that the Pisco we had at their bar was possibly the worse one during our...

One of the best in Cusco! I have nothing to complain about, nothing! Seriously they were absolutely amazing. I stayed 4 nights with my family in this Novotel. We had two rooms and they were both great.

**First Timers make sure you get your tea and pills for the altitude in Cusco. If things get really bad for you, the hotel will provide you with oxygen! Isn’t that amazing? They sure saved our lives! I’ve never been in such altitude needless to say how badly it affected us. The first night none of us could even breathe. They provided oxygen for both rooms. All we had the pay for is the mask.

Novotel The venue 5/5 - located in the heart of Cusco right around all the great restaurants and parks. The price! That was a win! I got it through Expedia for half of the big name hotels around and get wayyy more than expected. And better treatment. The staff 5/5 Omg! These people were so helpful and nice! Janet at reception was great.I don’t know how she remembers people and things so well. The greeters Oscar & and the hotel gentleman with glasses were also very helpful. Johns the server at the restaurant is also superb! This guy is so nice and helpful. Those 4 made my stay even more amazing. And my family and I thank you all very much! Breakfast is a feast! Good food, you can enjoy right in the patio of the hotel. The beautifully designed restaurant, has pretty good and fairly priced menu. The rooms were large with great bathrooms and comfy bed. Tv has a large list of channel, Coffee, tea, hot water and fridge in all rooms. Again I was more than satisfied with my stay here at the Novotel. This hotel is definitely the best experience I’ve had During my 18 days vacation in Peru! Thank You! I will definitely return and also refer you all...

Great value, good staff, accomodating to large groups. We were a group of 10 on oir way to the Inka Trail. We stayed here two nights prior and one night after the hike. Service was excellent with most of the staff remembering us by name. They held our checked bags securely during our 4 day hike. Rooms were very clean and quiet, with nice decor. They have 220V outlets throughout so take your adapters. They have a 110 Volt receptacle in the bathroom but it uses the peruvian plug, so adapter still required. They have an onsite restaurant which was very good (except for the eggs at breakfast), onsite bar with a limited selection, and onsite Alpaca clothes store. Right outside the hotel there is laundry service, places to buy water and hike gear, etc. Just further up the block is the Plaza De Armas and central Cusco’s restaurant and bar/night life. Overall the stay was very plesant and stress free. Huge Plus: breakfast buffette starts at 4:30 am! With a typical 5:00am departure time for local buses and trains to local attractions, this made for a fullfulling morning with plenty of excellent peruvian coffee and coca tea.

The things we did not like were:

  1. pillows felt like bags of clay. A few of our crew mentioned how bad the pillows were. The beds were good though, and we were able to use some camping pillows to help.
  2. breakfast buffette scrabled eggs were runny, very runny, and one of us go sick assuming from undercooked eggs. The next days we avoided the scrabbled eggs, and everything else was tasty and well cooked. The yogurt was fine and so was...
