We stayed here the night prior to heading to hike the Inca trial. We arrived a little later in the evening because we had to meet at the Alpaca expedition office to go over our trip. The hostel was very clean and we had three rooms upstairs. There was no toilet paper in the rooms but we were given some upon asking. It was a little far from town but a few people in our group were able to find an amazing woodfire pizza place about 5 minutes away to bring back to eat. The beds were super comfy and the wifi and tv's worked great other then all channels were in spanish. We had to get up early to head to the Inca trail and due to our late arrival we were unable to arrange to have an earlier breakfast so that was no provided. After we hiked the Inca tail we decided to stay at another hostel for some variety. We choose La Conquista which upon arrival was ridiculous. Long story short we gave them a little cash for using the bathroom and got out of there. We asked to be taken back to La Casa de mi Abuelo in hopes that they had a room available. The 8 of us ( 4 kids under 12) arrived and knocked on the door praying someone was there. Fortunately the owner answered and she was able to accommodate our family once again. We were so gracious and happy to be in a clean place. We discussed with her that we needed to get up early to catch a flight and she arranged to have breakfast early for us. We had a great night sleep and woke up and had tea, eggs and bread with jam. She arranged a taxi for us which was a tad late but did arrive. We had all our bags on the street to back into the taxi and when we arrived at the hostel we realized that a bag was missing. We checked all the taxi's and called the hostel and owner said she look in rooms and common area's but did not see it. We came to the conclusion that maybe it was snatched off the street. Not a bad mark on the hostel just make sure to keep an eye on luggage when out...
Read moreThis was the most expensive hostel we booked on our trip, but turned out to be one of the worst we stayed in while being in Peru. We stayed there 2 nights ||We were given a big room on the ground floor which was very cold, windows weren't sealed good enough and the whole room smelled with some kind of glue.||On our second night there, the hostess told us she doesn't have the exact rooms we booked but gave us other rooms and agreed to give a discount instead. Our room was dark and excessively small for four people. The internet almost didn't work at all.||Next day when we came to pay for our stay she told us to pay even more money than was on our booking. com reservation confirmation. First we didn't agree to pay that much, so she flew into a rage, screaming and swearing in Spanish. After 15 minutes of arguing and trying to reach a compromise we ran out of time and had to go to the airport. ||There are other places with better facilities and far better location for that amount of money, we don't recommend Casa de mi...
Read moreThis was a school trip for teenagers. We stayed one night and returned one night later after Machu Picchu. They were very disorganized about having enough rooms/beds when we returned, handing out wrong keys etc. Having teenagers sleep in an outside and disconnected room from the rest of the hotel which is not ideal for a school trip, etc. The place is constantly cold. No heat which makes sleeping very uncomfortable. No basic amenities like a shared iron or hair dryer which I wanted to use to dry some wet clothes I had that hadn't dried throughout the night due to it being so cold. Wifi is very poor, and they don't have normal plugs which all other hostels we stayed in Peru had. Pretty disappointed with the hostel- there is a variety of them on this street and I would advise future groups to choose...
