Wayna Inka Ollantay — Hotel in Distrito de Cusco

Warning! This is a HOSTEL, not a hotel! And the photos on Expedia with a nice lobby do not reflect what we saw. When we arrived, no one was at the desk and it took a few minutes before we saw anyone. Only one of the 4 people we saw spoke English. First they seemed to want to put us in the first floor room, and they started pulling luggage out of the room, then they decided to put us upstairs. It was a little chaotic, like they didn't know we were coming, but I made the reservation months in advance. We booked a room with 2 twin beds and they put us in a room with 3 twin beds and a full sized bed. The carpet was very dirty and had squares removed. The ceiling was cracked and bowed. The bed covers had dirt and dust on them. I believe the lady told us in spanish not to use too much water when we showered. I feel badly but we decided we did not want to stay! I blame Expedia for this mix up because they relocated us from another nicer hotel, and of course they couldn't know that the photos don't really reflect the reality. But be warned that this is definitely for the super budget travelers and don't expect the rooms to look like the photos online. Make sure you don't pay much...

I can say with confidence this is the worst hotel experience I ever had. We showed up at 7:30pm at night and there was no one at the reception. Actually, the guy at the reception also runs a convenience store across the street. Our room was not ready, we had to wait 20 minutes for a lady to clean the room. The walls are like paper and we were given a room right next to the kitchen so we were waken up by the people eating breakfast the next morning. The room was cold and they tried to charge an extra for a heater. After dealing to not pay an extra, the guy initially brought two heaters that did not work, only the third one worked. We booked with expedia and when it was time to leave, they told us we had not paid yet. We then had to waste 45 minutes with expedia and the reception guy who does not speak English at all. Pros: |1. Our room was clean. |2. There were plenty of blankets, we came during winter. |3. They stayed out of my room, which is big for me.|4. They saw me struggling with the altitude when I arrived and brewed me tea and have water waiting.||Cons:|1. No frills. It’s a basic room.|2. The walls are thin and you can hear people at all hours.
