Huaraz Hotel & Lodging — Hotel in Huaraz

POSITIVES The double room is spacious and clean, with lots of storage space (unfortunately no hanging space), separate seats, balcony and tea making facilities. Note that the triple rooms are smaller and darker but away from the street. The staff is friendly and helpful. Good, hot shower (in evening). Good bed. Rooftop terrace with excellent view. The location is relatively quite, while only 10-15 minutes walking from the city center.

NEGATIVES The room was very cold, most of the time colder than outside. During the day, I could walk outside with a t-shirt, but needed sweater and coat inside. The Wifi is very instable. 5 minutes connection, 5 minutes network etc. etc. (when you have connection, the speed is good). The room is not cleaned every day (on request it was cleaned). There are no comfortable seats on the rooftop terrace, only stools. We did not like the breakfast a lot. We got instant coffee, juice, bread and some kind of thick, floury maiz pancake. Consider booking without. Lights from the hallway are rather bright and shine into the room as there is a window above the entrance door. Very little water coming from the tap in the bathroom. Breakfast times are very limited (only from 7.30 to 8.30am) and inflexible. When we planned an early hike, we asked if we could take out breakfast the night before and it was not possible. The staff does not speak a word of English and needs to ask permission for everything to the manager/owner, who is only available by phone. This can easily lead to miscommunication.

The hotel itself is situated a bit further away from the main part of the town on top of a hill, which we preferred as we weren't used to all the car honking and celebrations that take place during the weekend. It's a quieter, clean, safe neighbourhood. From the main area, I would say it's a 10-15 minute walk, or a 2 soles taxi ride anywhere in the town.

The building is super clean and beautiful. There's a small courtyard with some local flora and a pool table, I wish we could have taken advantage of it! It's cozy and it made us feel at home. The rooms are also very clean and well taken care of. The room we had overlooked the giant mountains to the north, and it was spectacular to see them every morning.

Escarlet was amazing and very accommodating. We booked one of her rooms on Airbnb and thought nothing more, but she went above and beyond our expectations during our 2.5 week stay there. Any problem we had, she was quick to solutions and flexible with schedules. The free breakfasts were delicious every morning and different each day. Nous sommes restés 4 nuits dans ce super hotel avant de faire le huayhuash trek. Très bon hôtel, propre, chambre spacieuse, lit confortable, douche chaude (après quelques minutes de patience), proche du centre (10 minutes à pied) et calme avec pour certaines chambres vues sur les montagnes. Très bon petit déjeuner complet. Cecilia, Javier et le reste de l’équipe sont très gentils, de bons conseils et arrangeants. Réseau wifi refait en totalité pendant notre séjour.
