🚨DO NOT STAY HERE! 🚨
I reserved a room for 2 people (and they appropriately provided me a room with 2 beds—see attached photos)…however, a staff member at the hostel refused to allow my friend into the building! A friend of mine came all the way from Ica to Paracas (approximately an hour drive) to visit me and stay with me, but the man behind the desk steadfastly refused to allow my friend to enter the premises. We were completely baffled and bewildered by this, and when I pointed out that I reserved a room for 2 people, the man did not provide me with a sufficient explanation…he just kept repeating the phrase “It’s not possible” approximately a dozen times. Even when I requested an explanation from him (multiple times), he simply wouldn’t stop saying “It’s not possible”…over and over and over again. I’m a 41-year-old adult, and the man behind the desk treated me like I was a 5-year-old child. And instead of 2 people staying in a 2-person room with 2 beds (which is what I reserved!), my friend was forced back out onto the streets with no explanation and no recourse.
I’ve stayed in hundreds of accommodations in more than 50 countries all over the world, and I have NEVER had an accommodation refuse to honor my reservation. This is completely and entirely unacceptable…SHAME ON YOU, Paracas Backpacker’s House!...
Read moreA bit of a rubbish experience at this hostel. Despite booking 2 weeks in advance, when we arrived they had given our room away and said they were full, forcing us to split up. They put 4 of us in a 4 bed and 1 is of us in a 6 bed next door and said they couldn’t compensate us for splitting us up, because the 4 bed room was more expensive (despite giving us no choice but to stay there). There were also only 2 plugs for the room of four, and with bulky adapters, only one adapter fits. Not good enough for 4 people, especially if they don’t know each other. Mattresses were dirty, bins in the bathroom were overflowing and showers were smothered in other people’s hair and dirt. The sheets also do not fit the bed so everyone in the room ends up sleeping on the bare mattress. I think this hostel is taking advantage of the fact their main competition (viajero) is a lot...
Read moreMy wife and I had a private room which was basic but clean. The entire place felt spacious with common areas on the first floor and the terrace. There are quiet hours after 10pm for those who sleep early. WiFi was functional, but quite slow at times from our room on the third floor.
Great location along the main street; short walk to many restaurants and shops. We came from Lima by PerúBus, and the drop-off point is really close to the property.
We could book various tours directly with the staff. Their prices are competitive, sometimes even lower than what we were quoted elsewhere. We did the standard Islas Ballestas tour, the Golden Shadows tour and also rented mountain bikes to cycle in the reserve - no complaints for all of them.
Water is also sold at the property (1 PEN per litre), cheaper than bottled water sold in the nearby stores that we...
