My partner and I stayed in a standard room for four nights in March 2024. The location is probably one of the best parts of this hotel, as you are five-minutes of walking distance from restaurants, currency exchangers, and Lualhati Park, which is the starting off point for most of the major island/beach hopping tours.
Our room was tiny with no closet with the bed taking up most of the space. We made it work. But if you prefer more room to open your luggage and have your things about, then go for something bigger than the standard. The bed was firm enough and comfy, and the bathroom might be challenging for Westerners. It is the typical Filipino bathroom where no divider exists between the shower and the toilet. It is all in one small room, so when you take a shower, the toilet and everything around the toilet gets wet! I don't mind it because I grew up with bathrooms like that.
Regarding drinking water access, every floor has an office water-cooler appliance at the end of each hall that dispenses both cold and hot water. Since the rooms didn't have a water boiler, I used this for my tea. And we both used them to refill our water bottles.
The staff were extremely courteous and very helpful. My one criticism of Jai-Cob's is the breakfast. I recall it being pretty pricey for the small meat-silogs that they offer. They also make Western-style breakfasts for you putis. I didn't try any of that, but all the Westerners staying there seemed to frequently order the pancakes. So, maybe they are good? My other interesting observation of the place is the one Carpenters song that they appear to have on loop in the elevator. It would be nice if it played additional Carpenter songs other than the one that I would always hear whenever I took it up to my room. If you stay...
Read moreWe were very happy with our stay given the room was clean, spacious enough, and the staff were some of the most pleasant people we’ve met! The only significant change I would recommend (and the last star for a full 5) is to get a payment system so that they could accept credit cards for the services. It was a surprise when we arrived that it would be cash only and since the local banks are only open 9-3pm you are in a tough spot if you’ve already booked boat tours that take you away during their operating hours.
Other reviews had complained about the wet bathroom but that open concept is standard in the region based on our experience and this one actually did a great job of draining/drying up quickly thanks to their design. The wifi left a bit to be desired on signal strength but got the job done for the most part.
The breakfast was a great value compared to other options in the area, especially since they open at 6:30 and most others didn’t until 7.
We had one period at the end of the trip where the hotel was running on the generator but we didn’t even notice until we walked outside and actually saw it in action. So we’re happy to report that they are covered in that respect as well.
Overall it was a great stay and I would readily recommend it to anyone who is visiting Coron, with the heads up to bring...
Read moreIt's nice to see that the hotel is being taken care of. The hotel is in really clean condition and nothing seemed to be broken. There are cold/hot water dispensers in the corridors where you can get a drink or water for coffee at any time. The room was small and the disadvantages were that clothes could only be hung in a low cupboard. The coat racks were missing, the air conditioning was loud and blew directly on the bed and on your head. The bed deserves a golden brick award. However, the room was clean and there was enough space that otherwise the feeling was smooth. Good shower and clean bathroom. The room was cleaned daily and provided with clean dry towels. The hotel staff was friendly and an airport shuttle was offered in advance at a suitable price. At least excursions and a scooter could be booked from the hotel, which was brought to the place. Smooth and simple in every way. Breakfast was not included in the cheap room rate, but it was served at a reasonable price. The hotel also had a terrace area, clean and comfortable as well. The location of the hotel is really great and all services and places to eat...
