Joyful Guest House, El Nido — Hotel in El Nido

Joyful guest house has arguably one of the finest room views in El Nido. They are so lucky to be positioned in such a prime spot.

Unfortunately that’s the only positive. The establishment is in dire need of maintenance. Our big concern was that our balcony patio door (room b3) didn’t lock. Next to the balcony was a ladder which gave access from the roof or from the ground. This made the room 100% unsecured. I couldn’t sleep as I felt I needed to stay awake in case there were any intruders . El Nido is a hotspot for nightlife, drunks congregate on the beach outside in the early hours of the morning and make lots of noise. El Nido is NOISY!

With a lot of TLC joyful guest house has huge potential but they must address security and maintenance issues first before I can recommend anyone stay here.

There is no food or drink available despite a picture of food being featured in the Agoda listing…so you will have to eat outside, plenty of choice available in the locality though.

Location is great as it is very near the city proper and restaurants and boat ride. The room we stayed on our Day 1 was better as the Aircon functions best than the one they moved us with on Day 2 but the water heater seems broken 🤦‍♀️, They moved us to another room on Day 2 and the AC is too small for the room and takes time to get cold. Shower is not good either as the water pressure is too weak for it but the water heater is working compared to the other room. We had the best time staying at Joyful Guesthouse. The location is perfect in the center of town and on the Beach front. As a budget traveler, these rooms are good with everything you need: the rooms were clean, comfortable beds, good AC and the shower has hot water. The thing that made the experience was the lovely attentive family that runs the guesthouse. The ladies at reception helped me top up my SIM card and looked after me when I was scratched by a cat.
