This was my first time entering New World Manila Bay Hotel despite several visits in the area, and given the opportunity, I was pretty ecstatic to try their lunch buffet! I looked at their selection and, although the number of options looked a bit less than what I expected, they had some pretty good and appetizing choices.
What I found interesting among the food options were the following: Chinese & Western cooking styles for the seafood Seafood choices Japanese sashimi Create your own donut Create your own salad Cheese, counted 6 (Port salut, Emmental, Bleu cheese, Pont l'eveque AOP, Livarot AOP, & Edam cheese Pizza, especially after seeing that oven! Pasta Station Ice-cream Station Bread & Butter Pudding
Meal Time: I started off with the medium rare Top Blade with Peppercorn Sauce, and I was really really happy with the meat being tender and juicy. If I wasn't saving my tummy for other food, I would've focused on this a lot! Clams and mussels cooked with butter and garlic were perfectly strong and flavorful! Salmon and Tuna Sashimi were very fresh, cold and relaxing in the mouth, and complete with soy sauce and wasabi. Fish and Veggie Tempura were both good. I didn't get to try their Ebi/Shrimp because it wasn't on display, but I know I could've asked for some too. Blue Cheese on our pizza was super good despite the notoriously prominent smell it was expected to spread. Crust was no exception 'cuz I LOVE crust and theirs was good too! Seabass and Peking Duck were okay and the Fish Dumpling had an interesting, attractive color. Taste for that was also okay.
Dessert Time: Bread and Butter Pudding was claimed to be famous among customers and I could kinda' tell because of it's addictingly fluffy texture with sweet flavor. I say "kinda" because I was more fond of the ice-cream: Limoncello, Strawberry, and Red Bean. One downer was the nearly-melted consistency though the nice chef at the back gave me a heads-up about it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed their flavors! Limoncello surprisingly tasted like braso de mercedes so I must have weird taste buds for this one. Strawberry was good though it would've been ultimately better if it had strawberry chunks. Red Bean was good, too, and I had flashbacks of red bean in bingsu.
Tip: I suggest getting tiny portions so you could try everything. Halfway through my meal/s, I got tempted to get lots of seafood so I got a bit full there already. Also try their iced tea with GUAVA! It was...
Read moreLocated at the 5th floor of the New Coast Hotel Manila, the place is just beside my workplace but it’s my first time dining here, and here is my first impression:
Food is excellent, with big servings, and reasonable price. The food is so good we ended up asking to take home our “tira” after eating. We ordered the following:
Kare-kare - their version is that of a huge beef still attached to a bone 😅 with a very creamy sauce and generous serving of bite-sized vegetables and sweet bagoong. It’s good for 2-3 persons but it can extend up to 4-5.
Beef with broccoli - The beef is so tender, the broccoli is cooked to perfection.
Pancit Canton- Coz it’s a birthday treat, we won’t miss ordering our traditional pancit, which did not disappoint.
Non-alcoholic Berry Slushies - their best-seller, it sooo good-no need to elaborate.
Service - 5-star very polite and friendly wait staff who patiently answered all our queries.
Atmosphere - formal-business setting, cozy place. I haven’t got many pictures but the ambiance is nice, you can bring someone you want to impress.
Overall, I was really surprised that the Market Cafe has a better ambiance than the one we always go to (the 5-star hotel in-front of our office). This definitely made my list of “for a change” go-to...
Read moreWe went here 1 week before Christmas. Looking for a buffet that was nearby because it was so hard to find a taxi or Grab to get around at that time. Great reviews even from my friends. But we must have come on one of their off days. This was going to be our Christmas dinner, so we expected something grand. In all honesty, not so much. It was 8pm on a Saturday night, half the buffet was only open, the food was cold with no warmer, no steak not even cheap steak and no seafood what so ever, not even a cheap spread of Japanese sushi/sashimi. We were about to leave after our first serving of cold soup that had plastic in it. But had already ordered fresh pasta from that station & had them grill fresh meat & sausages, these were the only saving grace. Hard breads, cheese, and pizza. 2 types of ulam, can't remember what it was at this point it was so unforgettable, again cold. Roast pork & chicken, both overcooked. There were some good desserts. Please change the whipped cream you guys use its so bland with a hint of chemicals. I can make better tasting home made whipped cream than that, maybe the chef forgot the sugar? Sorry this is coming from someone with a cooking background. Hopefully things will change after the pandemic when yall have a...
