The hotel itself is nice enough, the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a little smaller than it looks in the photos but it's good enough for a basic room with air con and a Tele. We arranged a collection at the airport for our booking of 6 people. A car had been arranged not a van, in the end we took two cars and the man expected us to pay more. We didn't as we paid what we had been quoted. When we arrived, there was no power, a sign was put up on the wall saying maintenance work and it would be off for 12 hours. So with no aircon or fan, we decided to head out to go and get cash out since the hotel didn't accept card payments and wanted the money upfront. After 2 delayed flights and a mix up with the transfer we were a bit miffed that the power was out, with no back up. Anyways, we came back later and the generator was now on so at least we had the fan, and eventually the aircon. So the next day, the power goes off around 5am, completely. We get up, there's now a new sign being put up saying another 12 hours without power. But seemingly the generators not even working either! We confronted the owner, said if we could've been warned we would have made plans for breakfast and showering etc. (The water also not on) he shrugs it off and says 'its the Philippines' (the owner is European I would say, and should know the standards that westerners would expect when booking in a 'touristy' town like Alona) We checked online with the company who supplies the power and they had given notice of the switch off 3pm the previous day, so the information was available. My husband and I were backpacking, but my family were visiting and spending their only holiday in a 'resort' that has now had no continuous power/water for 2 days out of the 8 days that we were meant to be spending at this 'resort'. In the end the owner offered us a refund for our stay after we confronted him, which we thought about and made sure could find other accommodation that had a generator that worked. Which we did. Went back to Positano to check out and get a refund. The very lovely staff got stuck trying to sort it out, and the owner now wasn't about. She phoned him and then told me I couldnt receive any of the money back. I told her I will pay for the night we stayed but I'm not leaving without the rest. After waiting for another half hour she agreed, must have spoken to the guy on the phone, and apologised sincerely for any troubles. We left her a good tip for her as she was very lovely. The thing is, if the hotel had messaged and warned us about the rolling blackouts we might have been more prepared. We've now been across multiple islands across the Philippines in areas very remote and they still haven't struggled with power like they do in Alona. We've always had emails warning us if there's any issue. The owner had admitted it happens frequently most weeks. This is just unacceptable. You need to be honest with people and sort a bloody generator out! A lot of other restaurants and hotels still had power during this time when Positano had nothing. The hotel we moved to had no problems whatsoever, and it was around the same price as Positano. If the owner could sort out these issues then it is a nice little...
Read moreWhere do I start. ||Being a travel agent I have travelled and stayed at a lot of places. Hotels. Hostels. Resorts. This by far has been my worst hotel experience I have ever stayed at. Arriving here seemed sketchy to begin with. Down a random dirt gravel road next to some random houses and nothing in sight but construction. All we saw upon arrival was blue tarps and construction ( in the hotel area ) It’s extremely small here. Only 6 rooms. And the construction started at 5 or 6 every morning and the construction is about 10 feet from every room. It goes all morning all afternoon until early evening. The shower has no pressure and shuts off in the middle of a shower. Goes hot and cold and then just no water at all. The toilet broke 4 times during our 3 night stay. It smells so bad in the rooms because the water in the bathrooms is stinky, there’s not much ventilation in the rooms so it just smells like sewage. The room is so small there is no shelving or anywhere to put your stuff. The safety deposit box isn’t a safety deposit box. It’s a small cash box with a key. So if you wanted to take the box you could. Also. It’s not a short walk from the beach. You have to walk down street after street to get there on the middle of a rock path and gates and traffic to get there. There’s no breakfast included and the resort is way over priced !! There was no mention of construction anywhere and the online photos of the resort are very deceiving. It should be worth about 25 bucks a night. There’s way nicer resorts that are actually on the beach for less than you’d pay at this place. I would never recommend anyone to stay here. I have a pretty open mind when it comes to hotels since I’m in the industry but I will definitely not recommend any clients to stay here or any family or friends. I hope that the resort can do something to make some improvements. I will say this, the staff at the resort was lovely. They were so kind and helpful whenever you needed them. Although the resort is so small they are not there 24 hours a day. So if you need anything during the evening you will not be able to speak to anyone since it’s just the 6 rooms and no one else around. ||This is be first negative review I have ever written about a hotel. :( the photos I posted is the view from...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights. Everything was fine until the second day, when a brownout occurred. I approached the reception desk and asked the staff, including the male receptionist and a female colleague, if they were aware of the issue. They claimed to have no knowledge of it and stated that the electricity provider hadn't informed the management. However, after checking online, I found a notice from the electricity provider announcing the scheduled power cut several days earlier. I showed this to the reception staff, who acknowledged it with a nod. Only then did they post a notice on their bulletin board announcing the power cut for that day. "The power outage lasted from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM, resulting in the melting of all our ice cream in the freezer. The heat was unbearable. We expressed our frustration to the management, but unfortunately, they seemed indifferent. Our primary concern is the lack of transparency. We urge you to maintain honesty with your guests and provide timely communication regarding such incidents. Overall, the accommodation is pleasant, with a convenient location near the beach and walking distance to shops. The rooms are well-equipped with all necessities. Staffs are very friendly. However, our stay was marred managem ent's...
