Been here in Bohol for 5 days and it's the only time I get the chance to check out alona beach. I need to see it before goin home the following day. Alona is just walkin distance from the place where I stay but I've been busy for the past 4 days because of the tours.
I went here at midday. The place is not as populated as Boracay's. I am expecting more people. I am not sure if it's because of the month or just the specific time of the day that's why I'm seeing only a few tourists. I also expected Alona beach to have a shoreline as long as Boracay's and as livelier I guess you just don't have to compare it to Boracay and let its own charm get you.
Sand is powdery white. Water is clear and there are no molds at the shore lol. If you know what Im talkin about. 128514. Alona is more peaceful and it is a place where you can really relax.
There are more people along the highway than here. There are more people dining at the restaurants and more people strolling outside Alona than the famous beach here in Bohol which I didn't expect. I'm not sure what's with this day or maybe it isn't just peak season.
I tried to check some of the souvenir shops along the beach and bought some pasalubong. There is a store where they sell some good type of necklaces and they're on sale at P50 each. Saw the original prices and it ranges from P80-P220! So I bought the expensive ones that ranges from P120-P220 for P50. There is also a shop where all wetsuits are on %50 sale!
I walked until I reached Hennan. One of the 5 star resorts in Bohol. I stayed at one of their beach chairs for a while. I brought a Murakami with me but wasn't able to read it. I preferred watching some of the tourists pass by and just tried to enjoy the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea. A local passed by selling hammocks and bought one. I bought one too when I was in Cebu but this one's better and the ropes are thicker.
Another local passed by selling something and asked if I wanna try the hennandunan? Bohol's local pancake. I bought one then from there she sat at one of the beach chairs and started talkin to me. She's one talkative lady. She told me that tagbilaran and panglao are two separate islands only connected by a bridge. She taught me some words from their dialect and gave me some tips too and her phone number. Haha.
After stayin there for a couple of hours feeling satisfied and relaxed, I walked to the other end of the beach and looked for a place to eat. I ended up eating at one of the seafood restaurants that has a...
Read morePOV: Night Stroll. The night life here in Alona Beach side, Panglao Island is lively. Mostly tourist from South Korea visit here. If you are a party goer and an extrovert the night life is for you. If you just want a tranquil and peaceful vibes and want to be alone you may chose the early morning stroll. But I think Alona Beach has so many motored boats scattered on the side of the beach which make it impossible to see flora and fauna. But Bohol has other Islands to explore. You have options for free diving, snorkeling, countryside tour, church pilgrims and there are other underrated scenery which is yet to discover. Go to Bohol to Discover its Wonders. One thing I noticed in this Island is the Transportation Fare is costly, even to local tourist. I understand that it's a Tourist Destination but the Government should implement a Tariff to which we as local tourist and foreign tourist have a basis of the fare since trikes and motorcycles doesn't have a fair fare to everyone. That is why I saw many foreigners from Panglao Int'l Airport who are just walking to the exit to avail much cheaper transpo. Anyways it is the discretion and jurisdiction of the LGU on how they will manage the Island. 5...

This is infested by many local people harassing your fun trying to sell you tour packages, jewelry, and / or massages. They are persistent and do not know the meaning of no. The more you say no, the more they harass you.
While I understand that the poor need to make money, it comes at a great cost of ruining the experience for tourists.
Businesses along the beach have placed barricades to trap you by making sure you pass thru them. The trap is lined by plenty of their staff harassing you. Like the massage parlors.
The roads are in bad shape. There are no sidewalks, and if there is one, it is poorly developed, Motorcade goes fast. Safety is a huge issue.
Motorcycle drivers will harass you (yes, they will harass you) to the point of madness. They are barbaric, raw, and rude, and laws must be passed to stop them. They often will drive past your side and then make a sudden stop in front of you, calling you out. It is horrible.
This place was built to harass tourists. Remove these problems and place a decent sidewalk, remove vendors (walking and established) from the beach, and this place could change...
