####Raj dla kuchni indyjskiej w Warszawie, trzeba spróbować ####
We happened to be in Warsaw for some personal work, and decided to have our lunch at Guru Restauracja just because it was closest to the Warsaw Centralna Railway Station. The interior of the restaurant is very aesthetic, paying special attention to the diners privacy. The ambience was pleasant and soothing with peaceful music.
We ordered : Vegetable Samosa: (Mashed potatoes spiced mildly with Indian spices and peas, stuffed in a flour dough, folded into a triangle shape and deep fried.) I have been in Europe for few years now, I have never liked samosas in any Indian restaurant. But, to my surprise these samosas at Guru were amazing. It was served with a mango and a sweet tamarind chutney. The spices in the filling was balanced and the crust was really crispy. We liked it so much so that we had to order another plate after main course, just to satisfy our souls.
Mutton Bhuna: (Boneless pieces of mutton roasted on a skillet with onions, garlic, ginger and a blend of exotic Indian spices) We were ordering a different dish but this was the owner's recommendation. This particular dish had a very distinctive flavour, just the way you would find it in India. If you are craving for an authentic Indian cuisine, this is the best option for you. This definitely tops my list of most delicious Indian cuisine tasted in Europe.
Mutton Rara: (Mutton Rara is a keema-based mutton curry, which means that in the same curry you would find the goodness of both, the keema and the succulent mutton pieces) The taste of this dish was very different from the previous dish. Taste was really good and the use of spices were in a way that the dish does not loose its identity and still fit the spice level of a European.
Butter garlic Naan: (Indian flat bread baked in deep clay ovens) The garlic naan was delicious and was huge. Like one would be sufficient for an average person.
The food was so delicious and mouthwatering that we forgot to take pictures, when served.
Being an Indian, I wanted the spice levels to be higher on all dishes I ordered. To my surprise, I found out that they use green chillies to spice up all dishes they prepare. Green chillies adds a different flavor to the food and are less harsh on your stomach.
The portion per serving was huge. You would usually count the pieces per serving, but in Guru, I was overwhelmed. We had extra curry and meat left, after finishing up our Naan, which is never the case in any other Indian restaurants in Europe.
I returned back to this restaurant within 3 weeks, to order Mutton Bhuna and Samosa. 😋😛
Thank you Guru for serving Amazing Indian food in Poland.
Dziękuję Guru za serwowanie niesamowitego indyjskiego jedzenia w Polsce.

Read moreI went there alone, many tables were empty and I asked for a table for myself. The host went over to his manager, turned back to inform me that there were no tables available. No explanation given, nothing about an approximate wait time, just a flat "No". I know I don't appear "white" because I've experienced discrimination in many countries, my own USA included, even in my own State of Hawaii believe it or not. I was really surprised and confused but politely said "Okay" and left to look for another restaurant. I immediately messaged my Polish wife and asked if she would try to make a reservation for one. She secured one immediately and told me to just go back. I was hesitant but turned around. They were expecting me and I asked why I had been turned away just a few minutes earlier. Tge manager explained that there had been no free tables, even though the very same empty tables were still vacant! He said one person had just left after I had and that's why there was now an available table. I asked if he was racist and he insisted he wasn't because he worked with and that he worked with "brown" people while pointing to the kitchen! I asked why I hadn't been offered to wait forca table and his response was that patrons could stay as long as wished and he could never predict nor offer any potential wait time to any walk-in customers. I sat down and had dinner then actually apologized to him before leaving. I returned about a month later with my wife and asked if the host remembered me. He responded affirmatively but with total indifference. I rate this restaurant's experience and one of the worst in my life. The food was good but the dough covering my tandoori pot dish was exactly that, mostly thoroughly raw dough. Even in my next life, I'll refuse to reenter this...
Read moreWe set out looking for an Indian restaurant to have dinner and we stumbled upon this place just by roaming throught google maps. Decided to give it a try and it was so worth it. As per our luck we got a table without previous reservations (the place was packed - I suggest calling first!). Ok, yes, this place is not cheap, that's true, but it is true here that with price comes quality. First of all I don't remember when I had the opportunity to see such professional and kind service. Those waiters serving customers were really amazing and I'm not talking just about serving me and my fiancee, I took a good look around. Quite a bit of a nice small talk, a sincere smile on their faces, helpfull and knowledgeable about the menu. It made us feel welcome. Now when it comes to the food - we had a few vegetable dishes, some pakora and samosa as starters and some bhuna and makhni for the main dishes. The flavour was really amazing, there were so many spices it was hard to name any, but the blend of them gave a great experiance of the indian cuisine. I also noticed that the staff in the kitchen is foreign, the waiters talked with them in english, so I'd assume they are actually somewhere from India - that's also awesome. The last thing worth mentioning is that the overall look of the place is not a traditional Indian restaurant, more like a modern industrial feel to it. Anyways it was very enjoyable! Keep up the good work. We'll be back...
