Stara Kamienica — Restaurant in Warsaw

Second dinner here..delicious. We both had the venison and it was wonderful. The only problem, for me, was that it was such a big portion (not a problem really) I couldn't finish it all. Just an absolutely amazing place to have an authentic meal served by great staff.

Beautiful old world restaurant with buckets of charm, housed in a lovely notable building. 5 star experience on a 2 star budget! I'm hoping to go here every night during my stay in Warsaw.

I had the confit of duck leg with braised cabbage and baked apples, served with a large portion of roasted potatoes. I've had this wonderful dish before but this truly was the best. Husband had pork tenderloin in an unctiuos mushroom sauce, lightly grated beetroot and roast potatoes - delicious! They also served us a basket of delicious bread with a cheese and a sundried tomatoe dip, which was lovely. And to round it off we also had a superb bottle of Merlot.

The service was excellent, totally professional and very prompt. They served us plum vodka at the end (OMG, delicious) and gave me a beautiful long stem rose. And the whole thing came to £35 - I love this place!!!

Just to address the few negative comments. They appear to be persons who had their own view how the restaurant should be run, THEIR WAY, and didn't care about anyone else that was dining there. Secondly, they did give my husband the after dinner drink and me a rose (nice on both counts) but when I asked about the vodka drink the waiter immediately brought me one too. First off, I never write reviews. I’m an American and this has been my first visit to Warsaw, or Poland for that matter. I’ve spent some time in Europe, but my reservations about language barrier were cut very short here. No problem at all. I wanted to go out for a nicer dinner and Stara Kamienica hit the spot and then some. Located on a side street, Google Maps brought me to their front door. They gladly accommodated meat a table for one. My waitress, Ada, was spectacular. The other waiting staff was attentive as well. I ordered a bottle of red wine and my glass was filled at least six times, never nearing the bottom (and I like my wine). The food and timing of service was perfect. I think the chef had an “eye in the sky” to make sure all was done well. I started with a shrimp Caesar, following my wine as intended. Nicely cooked warm shrimp with slices of Parmesan over nice greens, tomatoes and soft croutons. Then I got into the Polish steak. Cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. Nice vegetables as described. I usually skip dessert, but was enjoying my meal so much I splurged on the cheesecake. My favorite since a kid, but add the chocolate crust, fresh strawberries, sprinkled seasonings and d*mn, here we are.
