I don’t usually write reviews, but my stay at Liberator Rossio was disappointing enough to warrant one. While the view and interior design are nice, that’s standard for most modern hotels—and unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The hotel feels more like a self-service hostel. All rooms are crammed onto two floors, and there are 20+ steps at the entrance with a non-functioning lift, making it inaccessible for those with mobility issues or heavy luggage. There’s no reception or staff onsite—just a code and a lockbox with your key.
Rooms are small and lack basic amenities—there’s no wardrobe or proper storage space, which made unpacking inconvenient for a multi-day stay. There is also no hotel parking. The nearest garage charges around €45 per night, and street parking is risky—we were warned cars get towed, which comes with a €200+ fine.
Our bathroom ceiling was damaged, and despite messaging the contact provided, no updates or fixes were given. Towels and sheets are only changed every three days—ours arrived stained on day one. One towel had a large yellow mark, and the sheets weren’t clean, which was disappointing.
Noise was another major issue. Every morning at 7:30, staff gathered outside our room to chat loudly for over an hour. The walls are paper-thin—you can hear everything, even coins dropping into the vending machine.
Basic information like checkout time wasn’t clearly communicated, which added to the confusion.
There are several other hotels on the same street in a similar price range. I would strongly recommend considering one of...
Read moreThis is a fantastic hotel for the location, price and quality of the rooms. I booked this hotel last minute for 3 nights in Lisbon and did not know what to expect with their self check and no reception, but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to access the building with the provided code, access my room and get my room card with their instructions. The rooms are brand new or newly renovated and modern, very clean and includes personal hygiene products supplied by the hotel. I took one star off because my shower door had issues that caused water to leak onto the bathroom floor during my stay but the hotel customer service gave me new towels daily to offset this issue. Normally you don’t have house keeping and get new towels daily, it’s every three days or you pay $20 EU. The hotel is central to the city and has so many great restaurants and views nearby and close access to the train and bus stations. Overall will definitely be staying here again and hopefully I have a view of Rossio square next time (I didn’t have the view...
Read moreThis was an alright stay in the heart of Lisbon - absolutely fantastic location and very easy and simple check in/ check out procedure. Bed was comfortable, nice shower and a bonus the TV had Netflix. |Having said this it had a very hostel feel about it, limited storage space (no wardrobes - a few hangers on a low railing), no real hotel necessities in the rooms (eg kettle/ iron etc). There was also a very annoying sound coming from the bathroom which made it difficult to sleep, as well as the construction next door which started at 7am (it would’ve been nice to be notified of this). Be careful to read that it does also have 25 stairs up to the elevator to access the building itself which could limit some guests. |Despite the bed itself being comfy, each side had two contrasting pillows - one quite small and the other very large and “fluffy”, which was a harsh combination and could only sleep with one or the other. All in all an alright stay, particularly for location, but would look elsewhere next time for...
