O Artista Suites by Europe — Hotel in Lisbon

We stayed here for our last night in Lisbon and it was even better than expected. We booked the family suite as a splurge and it was 10 times nicer than it looked in the pictures. I thought it looked a little gaudy in the pictures but it was elegant, luxurious, huge and had all sorts of extras (like a beautiful bluetooth sounds system). The staff was so nice and helpful, the location was absolute perfection and it was just a complete joy to stay here. It's a shame they are getting bad reviews on Google due to a dispute over rent/lease with the Ginja bar next door. I asked the receptionist about it and told her I'd considered canceling my reservation because I had read that the owners of O'Artista would not renew the lease on the historic Ginja bar but it sounds like there is more to the story here and I sincerely hope the hotel and the Ginja bar can work it out. I got the feeling the lease/rent issue is more complex than what I read here and that the hotel has tried to work with the owners of Ginja bar to no avail (if someone has the entire story with both sides represented, I'd be very interested to know what's going on). They lock the front door and they didn’t send us the key we called and called and no one answered, we had to stay the night in a different hotel and we have early morning flight! Worst experience ever! never had this much anxiety before.

Extra elaboration on this hotel situation: 1- they were supposed to send a key code to open the front door via email, never received mind you we booked this room months in advance! yet never a key code sent to us. 2- we came back to the hotel exactly 23:07 and the reception looked deserted no one there at all. We rung the bell we called but no answer at all 3- different establishments started calling the hotel with us also the bartender said that this happened before! But we didn’t need to take his word for it because there was a couple stranded just outside like us! 4- we went back again at 7am we called we rung no answer, after maybe 30mins someone from the kitchen NOT EVEN THE RECEPTIONIST opened the door for us!!!!!

So i hope this extra bit of information helps who ever is planning...

This hotel was impeccable in all respects for our 7 night stay. Our family of 4 could not have been more comfortable and this was without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed at - and we have stayed at many. The ‘room’ was an apartment offering lots of privacy and great amenities like a soaker tub and individual bathrooms for the 2 rooms. The kitchen had a great coffee maker with good quality coffee and lots of room for us to enjoy breakfast and snacks. We had the choice of breakfast in the room or restaurant. The first day we opted for the restaurant and every other day up to the room so the kids could sleep in. It was always more than we could eat and there were several things for each of us (it was fixed items but enough variety to satisfy all our tastes plus leftovers for snacks). When we had an early morning tour they even packaged up to go bags for us. It was adorable and much appreciated. Staff were always friendly and helpful. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone...
