Great location down a side street surrounded by restaurants.... the hotel restaurant also offers 10% off your book if dining there. |So why did i mark this a 3.5? as i said not all rooms are created equally and there is such a difference in them. i paid for 2 rooms and one was simply stunning, beautiful architecture, individual AC , coffee machine, mini fridge and a gorgeous bathroom and shower..... the other had a bed and the air con, a shower over a bath (which is a massive pet peeve of mine) with shower curtain - yuk. there was no fridge nor coffee/tea facilities. apparently the hotel is in the middle of upgrading their rooms and we received an "upgrade on 1, now that said if we had both received the lower standard room i had" booked " it would have been a 3 - showers over baths and not even a fridge or kettle is not good enough (i had actually sent a message prior to arrival asking about a kettle which was not responded to!) |the staff did try to see if they could change one of the rooms but unfortunately could not. by the fact we had such different experiences in our room bought down the score. |the breakfast is from 730-11 (rather late start - many places start at 7) and you are requested to give a time that you will attend. the breakfast buffet included scrambled or boiled eggs, bacon, little sausages and stir fry veges. a variety of breads, cheeses, meats. yogurt and mixed fruits, cereal..... and the best part mini portuguese tarts. |the staff in the bar and kitchen are |fabulous - friendly and cheerful. and a couple of people on reception also were lovely (apologies i don't know your names - a lady with magenta hair and a dark skinned male) both very so very helpful and always had a smile. |i have loved staying in portugal but i think i will try somewhere...
Read moreIt has an outstanding location. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, but I had a poor experience at this hotel. When I checked in, I was told that my room wouldn't be ready for a while because of an issue they needed to address. I didn't think anything of it, so I explored the city. When I entered my room, I nearly got a headache from the amount of air freshener that was sprayed. Again, I didn't think anything of it and went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to the most horrific sewer smell.
I went down in the morning and spoke to the male receptionist. I told him of the issue, and he told me they didn't have any reports of any problems. I told him he could smell my room if needed because there was an issue. He said he would look into it. About an hour later, I told one of the women, and she was more apologetic. They indicated that if needed, they would switch my room.
I went to the front desk later in the day, and they told me that they "thought" the problem was fixed. I asked to change rooms anyway because I didn't sleep the night before. They said it wasn't possible. I asked why they suggested it earlier in the day and they said that it was no longer possible. I asked what I should do if the smell returned, and they offered me a can of air freshener. I didn't sleep for a second night as the scent returned and I was forced to sleep with the door open and my room was directly over a bar that was open late.
The breakfast is excellent. The female front desk staff are wonderful. The male bartender is lovely and welcoming. Without the smell, I am sure it would have been a wonderful stay, however, the term "shit happens" was particularly applicable to my stay...
Read moreWe booked this hotel as a last minute option. The previous hotel we had booked had terrifying reviews of a variety of creatures and we got too freaked out to continue with our booking.||We booked on their website directly and saw the beautifully decorated and renovated rooms. Unfortunately, we did not get one of those rooms. The pillows were actually extremely comfortable - the bed was really hard however.||We had a lovely view of the pool area with a little balcony that allowed us to hang out our swimsuits etc. to dry. The room was always kept extremely clean and the hot water and shower pressure was really good. The shower is part of the bath and could get slippy when getting out but we didn't find that as an issue.||We found that although the pool area was small we always managed to find a spot where we could sit out and relax. There were plenty of towels laid out for you to use on the loungers.||There was an option to dine in the hotel with a 10% discount on the food but this was not something that we did. We also didn't avail of the breakfast.||The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect! It was close to everything that we wanted to visit. You are a 10min walk to the Time Out Market, about a 7min walk to the Asian market and the infamous retro tram terminal.||We would definitely return to use this hotel as a base to explore and enjoy Lisboa again. The pool was lovely and refreshing after a long day of walking, the next time we will book a deluxe room or ask specifically for an upgraded room. However, I'm sure the hotel is in this process and will continue in the...
